5600xt gaming mx help needed.

Recently attempted to flash my 5600xt gaming mx bios. I have a 710 as a back up to log back into my pc just incase, and this problem has been perplexing. I have tried usb dos booting, nuking my pc, and 1-8pin method. The 1-8pin method lets me reach Windows cmd as well as dos. However the problem is the test “fail”. As I’ve known that you have to remove the clip off the 1-8 pins for a “pass”. Flashing with the clip still on gives the “failed to read rom” error. However, once I remove the clip, amdvbflash displays no adapter found at all. The fault is all mine as I don’t have the best experience with gpu flashing. I used 3.04+ to flash, it stated success and then after the reboot the fire nation attacked. I haven’t used any other bios prior than the stock bios in this link but my gpu reads 1002 7310 currently, while stock was
0x1002 0x731F
Would appreciate any tips and advice. Thinking of giving up as I have been doing trouble shooting for 3 days without sleep. Worst case scenario I’ll make peace with my first gpu and move on. Though, do hope someone can guide me. Not ready for a beefy card upgrade yet. :/

Did you try to use some other version of Atiflash?Do you have your original bios?
When I am flashing the card I usually doing like this:
Atiflash -p -f 0 bios.rom
I notice that you starting with the force command first not sure if it's going to work like that....
Also you need to run Atiflash as an Admin!!!
Is it your bios rom file in the atiflash directory?

hey, yea I tried regular method flash as well, that was a screens hot of the error of the memfail. I have tried both versions 2.93+ and 3.04+. Yea the first one was an error it didn’t accept it lol. But I used amdvbflash -p -f 0 in cmd on admin. Atiflah -p -f 0 only worked in dos mode.My original bios wasn’t being accepted due to that “cannot read ram “ error I believe.

I am srry If you certain that you tried everything and nothing works then you maybe have malfunction with your rom-bios chip(bricked) and if that is the case you can not be able to flash any other bios again....only solution is to replace that chip or maybe to try heating method.......GL

Try to flash it in Linux before you try anything else extreme, a live distro should work.

Agree 100% he should try anything&everything before any hardware repair attempt

I am sure it will be better for you if you try and pay for the repair in some service if nothing else works before you attempt to fix it by yourself....also I am not an expert and I never changed the rom chip but i recon that it should not be that difficult IF you have some experience with the soldering...
anyway here is the link on ebay this should be the proper rom but maybe you can find it even cheaper on some other place.....

I really appreciate this. I ordered an used 5700xt red Devil since I have learned it’s best to not flash anything without dual bios. that link will def be useful if Linux doesn’t work. You guys really did me a solid.

Yea, I had the same fail message you have been getting and failing to read rom when I tried to flash my 5600xt to unlock power limits and overclock limits and it was recommended to flash it in Linux, I didn't as I don't have much experience with Linux and really couldn't be bothered to do it in the end as it was just something on a whim I wanted to try out to see how far I could overclock my GPU and having to do it in Linux was just a step too far for something I as only half interested in, in the first place  that said, your requirement is slightly different from mine so definitely worth a shot before you resort to other measures

NP...Anyway if the linux reflash-attempt was also not successful and you are sure that you tried everything&anything before you decide to order the rom chip or maybe go to the service you can also try to recover that chip with the heating(heat-gun) method first....you never know sometimes that also might work....GL

Yea, my 5600xt went from 14600 on passmark to 16800 thanks to cpu + ram undervolt overclocks. So I got a bit too ambitious and wanted to test its limits too. I should have been smarter and do my thermal mods with copper pads and graphite BEFORE any flashing that raised the mv and watts. .

Yea, at this point I’m def going to all the methods out of curiosity since I have a card on the way. If I can revive it I’ll be happy to share the good news + will post my thermal mods if you guys are interested in a follow up on that. I should’ve not get ahead of myself, I’m an engineer... not a coding developer.

Yeah...never do bios-flashing on cards that do not have dual-bios on it.....also most of the time gains are almost negligible compared to the standard overclocking.....

Sure man I have my Fingers-Crossed for you and hope so that you will managed somehow to fix that card just don't give up!!

Yea def learned that hard way lol. this was my cards performance purely due to managed thermals and voltage curves. So I thought I could push it further than a 2060 super benchmarks with a bios mod. You can see why someone would get too ambitious lol

Ohh sure I totally get you....after all I did modded bios on my current R9 Fury :D...but again it have dual-bios....so...it's not a big risk.....

did you get up and running few things here. I saw atiflash mentioned. don't recommend this. use amdvbflash, but there is a modded version for amd, come to thing of it might have been for the 5700's, I still use it anyways. And there is a specific bios to mod this. I can dig up the files if you can't find.

Unfortunately no, I believe my vbios chip is indeed messed up. It doesn’t even have its correct serial number 7310 instead of 731F. Went on Linux and even then “failed to read rom” whilst using 1-8pin method. I have the card stored away right now while I look into soldering a new chip. But that’s something I’m not going to attempt without some practice lol

I def appreciate that whenever you can spare the time. My card is a 5600xt Gaming Mx, I already got a 5700xt as a replacement but i still would love to revive it and give it to a friend.
