Ok so here's my problem, have my 5850CF setup for some time now but lately ive noticed that my first installed card temps are increasing, i mean @ first the card would idle @ the lower 40's now after installing the second card and enabling CF it idle's @ the mid 50's (53-56 to be exact) @ 70% fan speed and second card's temp's idle at the lower 40's @ 55% fan speed, i don't think that's normal, would do you guy's think???
one other think both cards are at default speeds....

The second card is probably blocking some of the airflow for the 1st card.

Well I'm guessing your first card is the one on top? Then its perfectly normal since the card on top sucks in the heated air from the card below.

90-93 is probably too hot. You might want to improve the airflow of your case

Yes if your case lets you install a side fan this will probably be a good idea

WAY to hot man. Something is up. Ask Erocker. He has a CF setup with 5850s.

Well, then if you have more than 2 PCI-e x16 slots, try putting the cards farther apart so more cool air gets to the top card (I'm guessing you don't, otherwise you'd probable have already done it).

yeah i thought it was an air flow problem, took out the side cover and the temp's went down to 44 idle from 54-56, i'll try to figure out a way to add a side fan although my case doesn't have a side fan option, i guess either get out my old dremel and start modding the side cover for an additional 120m fan (maybe two) or get me a new case maybe CM HAF 932 (always wanted that case), so thanx guys, i'll post as soon as i solve the issue...

If you get a HAF get the 922.

still having problems, but check this found out that CCC was causing all these problems, ive noticed when on crossfire the upper (main) card's fan control is not working in ccc (default speed's on 100%, that doesn't sound right) and that's why it overheats fast where the other card's temps are normal and fan control works fine, so here's what i did uninstalled CCC 9.12 and the 9.12 hotfix, installed 9.11 and everything worked fine with fan controls working on both cards and temps went down significantly, until i ran Dirt II and then it started failing again, temps went high and fan control over main card went nuts, so went and disabled ATI overdrive and manual fan control, and installed MSI afterburner and setup a manual fan control profile and it worked great, so i thought if i reinstalled the 9.12/hotfix and disabled the ATI overdrive and used MSI afterburner insted to control the fans should solve the problem? NOT MSI went nuts with the 9.12/hotfix, don't know why but it seems it has conflicts with 9.12, and that was when i closed everything and went to sleep (woke up all night and had to go to work early morning), but i'll be back........
one other thing, i Google'd around a little bit and found out that this is a common issue with 5800 series cards on crossfire and ATI CCC???

Use just the 9.12's. The 9.12 hotfix screws with 5850 CrossFire.

i think it's the fan on the card's cooler, found out @ 100% fan speed the fan goes up to 3700rpm, where's the second card @100% fan speed up to 4700 rpm, might be some dust or the fan is totaled, thinking of resetting the fan/heatsink, what do think???

one other thing experienced is i opened a game on window mode and aside to it gpu-z and noticed the fan rpm on 100% is not stable on the main card, it goes from 3700rpm down to 3400 and up again plus it sounds real strange where the second card's fan is stable @ 4700rpm both on load, strange???

could these problems be PSU related, i mean before setting up CF i made sure that my HX620 would handle this setup, and it worked fine with on card installed but after hooking up the second cards this issue appeared.

that corsair should handle it no problem really hell im running much larger power draw then you and i hit a max of about 530watts at the wall so with 80% taken into consideration i top out in the high 400watt range so i dont think you should have an issue maybe try 1 card to a time and test if the fan issue still happens then the cards semi defective

I doubt its the PSU if its a temperature issue. Unless the PSU is blocking the exhaust fan or something.
