Edit, watched a few more seconds and see more resolutions benchmarked.

ATI was fast with their cards, but not with their programming.
but so far, the results are very pleasing for me;)

stick to facts, drivers are extremely premature and his CPU is beefy enough to handle that setup. :shadedshu

Amazing setup you have Bodar, that Heaven bench score is just unreal.

Its nice to see that in a lot of games going to a 3rd card actually scales well and sometimes better than the jump to 2 cards, 4 seems to be the line though.

mmmm awesome video dude thanks for sharing, and its nice to see trifire starting to get ahead a bit, however its pretty obvious 2 cards is the sweet-spot.

Still, TPU isn't about the sweet-spot, TPU is about the most shit-hot setups, and boy you got one :toast:

an i7 975 @ 4.5GHz has more than enough bandwidth

I am tempted to agree with that statement...
You shouldn't be noticing any cpu limitation especially on a graphics benchmark with that kinda cpu at that kinda clock..

I wouldn't expect to see a hard limitation like that on my cpu at it's current clock.

If people think I'm full of sh!t they can just look at how an i7 can handle as many nVidia cards in SLI as are available with at least some gain while the 4870x2+4870 had extremely similar numbers to 2x4870x2.

Bottlenecked and pre-mature driver are the problem... for quad-setup

http://www.hardware.info/forum/showthread.php?t=201199

Core i9 with quad-sli ... going from 3.5GHz to 4.7GHz give him over ~15FPS (~15%) in Vantage GPU test...

And everyone knows Vantage doesn't depend much on CPU (very well optimized for multi-threads).

I have to stop you right there... You are right that drivers are the issue here, but scaling like what we're seeing in the 5870s is not because of a CPU bottleneck. The OP is running his 975 at 4.5+GHz, and I know you've owned an i7. What happens when you raise the BCLK? You also raise the dram frequency! Everything gets faster. Higher QPI and more uncore probabaly did more than the increase in cpu frequency.

There was a Gigabyte overclocking competition and Fugger was the winner of the competition with dual overclocked 295s and an overclock of the i7 extreme at 4.3GHz. That was it, and other teams had worse results with higher OCs. One thing he did was increase the uncore more than he had to. Small tweaks like that change vantage scores more than you have tried to experience.

Earlier I posted a gaming benchmark because unlike vantage... most games get shafted when it comes to support in crossfire. This is most definitely a driver issue and that was the reason I posted that benchmark. Here's another bench. By the way... these tests are not done with immature drivers. These benchmarks were done well after the 4870x2s had been on the market... wow scaling

That first resident evil bench is good, but you need to really let the cpu fly at max overclocked settings to really see these gpu's scale. Although that was an average of 250 fps..
Still overclocking the cpu to 4.72ghz really helped re5 reach 280. I love trubritar lots, but for the current tech, you need as much cpu power as possible to scale these cards. cheers you guys!! :)
