No ’tis a sidegrade at best. Unless of course you buy a prebinned 5GHz 8700k & WC the setup.

So, depends on whether you want to spend 500$ or more for a new(ish) rig, gaining 5~25% more performance in certain tasks or games.

Overclock what you have a bit more, and you're sorted.

Better investing in overclocking more or just getting a 5960x...

Well, 'worth it' isn't up to us... The difference in IPC is a few %, and the 8700K overclocked a few hundred MHz further in most cases. Is THAT worth it to you, OP?

well, he's asking for opinions, so it matters to him(our opinion). it will help him decide what to do.

as for me, it's not worth it. I have a 2600k and just preordered a 8700k. Even then I know fully that it isn't that of a big leap(in gaming), so with an even newer system in 5930k, with 6C/12T, it would even less worth it.

The reason I'm buying the 8700k is I'm making a whole new rig while selling all of the old one, Gonna build a new one with all the lights and awesomeness that I finally wanted(more budget than ever before). so it's worth it for me(my incoming upgrade, as a whole).

I get that, but in the end, its up to the OP. One man's worth is another man's not worth it.

Opinions are like a-holes... we all have one. :)
