6700k cooling variance

I'm using h80i v2 and Corsair link reports 30c while under load with prime95, coretemp reports 85C.

When i stop prime95, coretemp drops to 35c in less than 1 second.

Is this normal? I'm running at 4.4GHz with factory OC options from BIOS.

I ran prime95 for an hour and it stayed stable, h80i only reported 37c, but coretemp got in the low 90s and immediately dropped to the 30s when i stopped prime95.

That's fine, If the system doesn't lock up or BSOD you are ok.

The h80 temp is the coolant temp I think. It just seems weird the temp snaps back so quick in core temp when I stop prime 95.

It's the same in mine, about 73ish during Prime, i press stop and by the time i tab to Hwinfo/monitor (one second? A bit over?), am down to 30s already.

What is interesting is the temperature difference between your software.. am using the latest Corsair Link and the latest HWinfo/monitor. All three are very near each other, readings-wise.

edit: have you messed with the polling settings? In Link? How many miliseconds per sample are you on now?
Sorry, should have clarified; if you haven't, open all your monitoring suites, open their settings. See which one has the tighest polls, then lower those of the others to match it. Now run a stress again for like 10 mins, see if you're still witnessing any major discrepancies.

Do you have your other voltages i could use as a template to get started manually?

I think the auto-overclock set the voltage too high.

what do i need to do to keep to voltage stable at 1.28? mine keeps fluctuating from 1.2-1.26, not sure why it wont go to 1.28.

Get HWinfo, select the option matching your operative System (32 or 64Bits architecture...) run sensors and compare with RealTemp or Core temp.... i guess you might watching coolant temp and not the CPU temp...

Basically I just set them manually to the normal setting. Ie- if auto is showing 1.2 I set manually to 1.2.
