Thanks to w1zzard for allowing my card to be set to:

For 24/7 operation.

At a squeeze it can do 900/1125 and score just under 1800 in 3dmark 11:

I don't think HP uses MXM.

Only Acer's before the core i series of laptops had an MXM slot (excluding the 8940g which does).

Otherwise Alienwares (M15X and larger), Clevo/Sager (with a GTX460/HD5850 or up).

Full load temps are around 86C.

I have a 7738G, which I have customised, original spec:

17.3" 1600x900 LED LCD
Q9000 2ghz
4GB DDR3
GT240M 1GB DDR3
2x500GB HDD (5400RPM)
DVD-RW drive
Basic wireless 2 channel N.

New spec:

17.3" 1920x1080 LED LCD
Q9200 ES 2.4ghz @ 2.66ghz 1.05v
8GB ULL DDR3 (6-6-5-15)
HD6770 1GB GDDR5
C300 64GB SSD + 500GB Western digital scorpio black (7200rpm)
Bluray rom/DVD-RW drive
Internal bluetooth added
Intel 6300 ultimate N - 3 channel (added extra antennae)

Yeah the board is amazing.

3 Dedicated phases to the CPU which run cool even with the CPU OCed, it just has phases for everything including ones delivering power to the MXM board.

The power circuitry for the 6770 is interesting too. Looks like it has 3 phases for the GPU and 2 for the mem.

No, there is some electrical tape around the core to ensure none of the tiny caps get shorted. Not really needed.

I'll be selling it soon.

Yeah IHS's actually make thermal conductance worse so all intel mobile cpus are naked:

Yeah, I need the bandwidth to run at 1080p, my 5730 struggled even with the mem clocked at 1100mhz.

I think you should be able to manually clock your card, without modifying the bios.

It worked for both my mobility 4650 and 5650 for both the gpu and memory clock.

First you gotta disable PowerPlay in the Catalyst Control Center.

With PowerPlay disabled you can customise your clocks with AMD GPU Clock Tool, found here: http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/1641/.html

It worked for me atleast, and you can manually set your clocks like the clocks listed above, as long as the stock voltage is adequate.

I cannot help you with a sustained overclock sadly, but I'm sure someone else here can =D

Hey, first time poster. I saw someone linked to this post over on forum.notebookreview.com.

I have a HP DV6t with a Core i7-2630QM and Radeon 6770M. I run my 6770M oc'd to 850MHz Core and 950MHz Memory.

You can see some details in the first post here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-...n-quad-edition-6xxx-series-owners-lounge.html

Take a look at the "GPU Overclock" link. I use MSI Afterburner and give some instructions on what needs to be done to enable it.

Yeah be aware the memory modules are different and I have increased the core voltage.

Core voltage has a decent impact on max memory speed.

HP machine = 725/800 1.05v
MXM card = 725/900 1.05v (flashable to 1.1v)

It's likely they have used lower power T2L modules where as the mxm card uses full fat T2C modules.

Hi, may i know if the laptop bios needs to natively support 6770m or we can just dump any standard MXM card as long as the TDP is within the same range?

My machine has no specific support for the 6770M so I assume as long as you have a standard MXM slot you are fine.

Its been tested to work in a 5739g too.
