i'd suggest this at $225 it's the best bang for your buck

About the same cost as a 6870 but faster...a 6950 is overkill...I just got one and my system can't handle it...:)
EDIT: Never mind just realized you are in the UK

You could always just wait for the 7xxx series to come out :D
Most likely around 8 months away. Not too bad of a wait xD

6950.
Flash to unlocked shaders 6950 bios, not to 6970 bios.
For gaming, set to 6970 clocks 880/1375 - most 6950's will do it stable on stock 6950 volts.

As not to flash to 6970 bios - some people have complained of artifacts and corrupted cards due to different programming for the the RAM.

You're safe if you can flash with the unlocked shader 6950 bios.

Stick to your HD4890. Upgrade when 28nm comes out. Not worth upgrading right now.
