LOL OMG IT WASNT THE FAN BEARING. the card just sagged a little bit and was vibrating against one of the pcie slot covers

cant take strikethrough offffffff

so the fan on my 780 it sounds like the bearing is disintegrating so i need to replace it asap.

im trying to keep a stock reference look, and i have a gtx 480 right here, and i was wondering if it would be safe to replace the 780 blower fan with the blower fan that's on the 480, or would there be any issues?

thank you to anyone who responds.

Well, it wasn't the same fan. The one on the 780 was much more refined than the one on the 480.

I'm sure you could replace it...the operation is not to difficult with the shroud off. But it likely will not be as quiet.

well noise isnt really a problem. i was just concerned if there would be any voltage differences that might damage the 780 or something like that.

i was originally planning to ziptie a san ace 1011 to the heatsink but i would rather keep a reference look with the shroud on if possible.

What about taking the 780 fan out and oiling the bearings?

Depending on how long ago you bought the card you could RMA it through the manufacturer. I had an MSI 270X Gaming that one of the fans had failed. I RMA'd it and instead of fixing it they replaced it with an R9 380.
