Hi. i bought a faulty 7850 (saphire 1gb oc)
from the description i was 90% sure it was a 2d clock issue so i bought it.

set it up and ran gpu tool set to test for stability. 1st thing gpu was pumped to 3d clocks the tearing and glitches on screen went away cofirming my issue (i had same problem when i over clocked my 5770 so i figured i could fix it/work aroound it)

ok the app that fixed my 5770 over clock issues was amd gpu tool. if i did even a 1mhz oc on my 5770 the 2d clocks messed up and i had the same problems. but amd gpu tool would overclock the card and force the card to always be in 3d mode.. AMD GPU tool wont support a 7850 though (i really wish it did)
Msi after burner profile settings dont seem, to fix it.
trixx wont fix it.
infact every app i have tried fails to fix it..
the only way i can get it stable "for now" is to have gpu tool testing for stability in the back ground which puts the gpu at load, and stop that when i want to play a game.

i decided to dump the bios and edit it. but RBE dosent support the 78xx cards either.
so right now im kind of stuck..

What i want to do is edit the bios set 2d clocks to 900/1200, maybe get rid of power play too.

i tried making profiles and edit them so want 0 was at the values i wanted, but that dosent work either..

So any one know how i can edit the bios.
or an app that forces the gpu to 3d clocks all the time without putting it under load.

i have tried setting use constant voltage and dissable ULP but none of it has worked.
the only thing that works is having the gpu under load so it uses the 3d clocks..

thnx. but it wont allow me to change the 2d clocks or dissable power play, but i have posted in that thread now.

I would search the gpu bios database here on TPU and find a proper 7850 bios and flash it.

i think you shoud try Asus Gpu Tweak to disable 2d clock.

i tried asus gpu tool but never got a message saying dissable 2d clocks. how do i get that to pop up?

and i have already gone through the bios data base and tried 2 diferent bios's (860/1200) and (900/1200) also obviously the one already on the card..
all of them have the same problem.

did that it changes the clocks but i dont get the option to dissable 2 dclocks and the voltage stays low. so i dissabled that to start again with msi after burner.

i found something strange though.
if i set msi kombustor to do a stress test "draw triangle" then minimize the triangle window.
the gpu clocks drop down to 2d clocks so does the ram the voltage goes down too..
but there is no tearing.
but only if i keep that window minimized..
there must be something im missing, because if its fine at 2d clocks provided msi kombustor is running in the background im not sure what it could be..

-= edit =-
checked your pic and downloaded the same verion of asus gpu tweak
finaly had the dissable 2d clocks option, but that did not fix it.

will have to wait for a bios editor with full features i think.
and in the mean while have kombustor running when im not gaming. Not ideal but works.

the death triangle stress test can be minimized and the gpu will go clock down and everything works (some occasional tearing still. but atleast now its not constant)
when i minimize it it goes off and the gpu usage goes down to 0% so thats got to be better, everything els would have the tearing if i minimized it. (ati tool show 3d/gpu tool stability test.. and so on)
so it kind of works well enough.
and i really cant complain at the price. and like i said for gaming it works fine, and its faster than my 5770,

i can get the gpu usage up to 99% as well, i was thinking the q6600 @3.6 wouldnt be able to crank it up more than 60-70% but it seems to still have just about enough in it to get the job done even when stressed to 99% cpu load with occt it was able to get ~80% so i guess im happy with it.

just need something a bit less of a "it will do fix"
