if they delivered to europe they would instantly double sales
Yeah, the only thing that sucks about the egg :shadedshu
Thats how much the 7900gs are usually costing these days...
7900gs > 7600gt
Happy new year =D
Thats a good model too, because its the version with the heatsink that covers the RAM aswell as the GPU. I got mine for a bargain price, £105 here in the UK : http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/121108
Damn, free super saver delivery on that too.
If only it wasn't XFX
I'll wait a year before I buy another one, that is if I can get SLI to work on my board.
Its $189.99 now. (Who the loser will buy a 7900GS for $189.99 when a X1950 Pro cost $178?)
Whats up with XFX then m8??? I know several people with various XFX cards and all run sweet (including mine)
Owned several XFX cards....never had a problem with them.
I am currently running an XFX 6800GT. It will be the last XFX card I ever own.
It was a warranty replacement for a Leadtek 6800GT that suffered from memory corruption. The problem is the card doesn't represent the specs on the box, or the details and pictures on XFX's website. In reality it's an unlocked 6800GS (cheaper, stripped out PCB with no fan control) with really crappy memory. With no speed control, the fan was on 100% all the time and bloody hell it was noisy. I didn't mind too much because I was going to put another cooler on it eventually anyway. But the memory really annoys me. It was advertised on XFX's site (and on the box) as 1GHz, but it is actually 900MHz and won't overclock to 1GHz with full stability.
I contacted XFX support and told them about the difference in specification. They said the card was from a 'budget' line and had been put in the wrong box. But just to add insult to injury, they also said it was a "good enough replacement" and therefore they wouldn't do anything about it.
The supplier (overclockers UK) offered to replace it, which was nice of them considering it wasn't their fault. But I declined because it would have meant another £7.50 to send it back, and another 4 weeks without a card. Plus I need something to hate, keeps me sane.
In the card's defense though, it has been running for about a year. The Leadtek didn't even manage three months.
Suprised that you got ahold of them..hell when I had my 6800XT (lets just say only had it for a bout 1 week before I sent it back) I could barely get Customer supp., it took them like at least 3-4 days to get 1 reply back to me, and when they did, it was very stupid responses, shit that I knew might of been the problem. I ended up sending it back, losing the 20$ for restocking but still got some money back to save up.
ohh and my card read wrong to, it read 6800 GS with 8 series drivers, and XT for the newer 9 series drivers...ain't that some shit?!?
I don't really like XFX myself IMO either. Guess some others have had better luck out of them.
If someone wants to buy a 7900gs in the UK. If you go to www.scan.co.uk and their today only offers. You can get a Gainward Bliss Golden Sample 7900gs for under £100. I also suppose a lot of people here get free delivery from scan. I think it is a bargain since it is factory overclcocked and apparently is highly overclockable. It also i think has a dual slot cooler.
So tbh its not the actual XFX cards you dont like, its just the bad customer support. The way they treated you was out of order and I would feel just the same as you m8!
I hope nothing goes wrong with my card then LOL
Yeah pretty much. Although I really don't like the particular card I have at the moment. 90% of XFX's cards follow the Nvidia reference design, so quality, reliability and performance will be on par with the other manufacturers. Although XFX only offer a 2 year warranty where most of Nvidia's other partners offer 3
flash it with a proper 6800gt bios. then see what you can get from it
It doesn't have a proper 6800GT PCB so a flash would probably kill it
