850w PSU is enough for Vega 64?

Because, I did a test then the results seems like that;

•Intel Xeon W3680 4.45 GHz 6C/12T Overclocked CPU) with 1.48v maximum voltage scale I set it voltage in automatically. When CPU idle the temps are so low)

• Sapphire Vega 64 Reference P7/ Clock 1652 : Voltage 1050 - P6/ Clock 1552 : Voltage 1000

• G-Skill Ripjaws 1600 MHz DDR3 3x4 12 GB Ram (Triple-Channel) with 1.6v (3x4)

• SSD and HDD only 1/1

• ETC...

• Corsair RM850X 850w +80 Plus PSU

So, as i said I did a test but i didn't understand because the calculator says "I should buy a 1600w psu" How? Is it a joke?

I think the calculator spits out such a high number because of the voltages you set. It makes it look like you want to go LN2 overclocking on your CPU and GPU.

I can assure you like the people before me that 850W will be enough. I have a Vega64 on water, flashed to the LC-bios for maximum power-limit and I maxed every slider for voltage and power = peak power draw for the Vega is 400W. But you will not see that with an air-cooled card, because it would not be coolable. Besides, if you want to really overvolt your card you need to do a hardmod. There is no way to 'overvolt' a Vega by 50% without modding the card.

The most important thing for Vega 64 is to use 2 different PCI_E 8 pins to get it to run smoothly. Other than that 850 is more than enough for your current config.

what about those stories about very high short peaks with vegas and that the system goes off/screen off. I'm OC/UV vega56 with +50% and this is happening to me. I just lose picture and need to restart. sometimes even cold reboot is needed.

I admit, I'm on 650W but I've seen stories and claims that you need 900W+ for this card and OC/+ power.
I don't know. I have an old xfx 750w in the closet so maybe I try that one instead of this new focus gold. when I was building this system I've even considered 550w focus but luckly the price between 550w/650w was small.

See my previous post. Those were mostly caused by people using 1 PCI_E cable with 2 8 Pins instead of 2 CPI_E cables with 1 8 pin each. There is no need as even my Vega 64 crossfire TR4 setup pulls a maximum of 750W when under extremely heavy workloads. The quality of the PSU cannot be understated either so you should be fine.

Exactly. Those calculators are nothing else but just a joke, it shows 588W load for me with OC'd R5 2600 & OC'd 980 Ti. :D
The calculator is very good actually, for me it showed a perfect match compared to my measurements from the wall. And that on a dual socket board with 2x X5690s and a dual pump watercooling setup with an RTX 2080 Super.

I think it´s just a problem with certain hardware voltages. I set my CPUs to the 1.41 I use and left the GPU on stock because that´s what it will run no matter how far you move the 'voltage' up in afterburner. It will never exceed the stock voltage table, so you should never set an overvoltage in those calculators.

Nope. It shows 900W load wattage and 950W recommended PSU for my old R9 290 CF setup. Like I said, worked like a charm with my Seasonic 750W.

Dont know how it got to 900W on your setup, I added the crossfire setup plus your current specs, added 10x 200mm fans and a D5 pump and got to 800W. But still seems much, I agree. Guess I got lucky that it guessed mine correctly.
Well another thing is this calculator expects 100% GPU load on both at the same time + 90% CPU load which will rarely happen. MGPU scaling never worked that well. The number it spits out looks like the worst case, running a power virus on every component.

The thing with wattage calculators is that they have to take into account that some people will buy junk PSUs that may not safely provide their rated output so they add some wattage to the suggested PSU to try to cover that. If you are using a quality 850 watt PSU then you have more than enough for any single GPU configuration even with overclocks and watercooling.

The worst case that I have ever heard of was a junk PSU being tested on jonnyguru and when they ran the load up to the rated wattage the PSU exploded. Don't buy junk PSUs ever. The OP is using a quality PSU. They are fine.

I had XFX 650W powering my Vega 64 with Ryzen 5 1600, 850W is plenty.

The calculater is actually prett accurate.

Convert the 12v at 108.8 amps and the calculator is actually dead on.

Lest people forget you must be accurate when input specs to the calculator.

I guess I forgot to put the GPU OV last time, now it show 1kW as recommended...

And that would be correct if you overvolt your cards and push them to 100%... Did you really hardmod your cards for overvoltage? What was your cooling? These R9s pull 260W per card as per review stated at stock speeds. If you overvolt and OC them thats easily 300W+, so 600W in total for both, if you factor in your CPU and OC that, you can add another 200W, so already 800W for the main components. Add the water pump, drives, fans, chipset/mainboard and I come to the same recommendation of 1000W to keep you on the safe side. (IF you stress each component to 100%).

Thinking about it I stay with my conclusion, this calculator is good and I personally would recommend using it if you want a safe recommendation. Keep in mind by slightly oversizing you also run at efficiency peak.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
The calculators are in the ballpark... but they ALWAYS overestimate. As someone said earlier just ot be safe and to account for garbage PSUs that people sometime buy.

For the OPs system, a 750W unit is plenty. Just be sure it has the two PCIe power connectors (which at that wattage level, most all do).

I did set undervoltage P7 1000 P6 950 and +50 power limit do you think this is bad for my system? for V64's life?
Just leave a GPU as it is - stock. AMD cards are bad overclockers, except maybe the newest ones like RX 5XXX series. You will not get much performance from OC'ing this GPU.
Overvoltage and power limit aren't the same things. If you set +50% power limit, theoretically it means that GPU will pull 50% more power than stock/normal to maintain your OC profile stable, while voltage will increase according to how much mV you set.
You don't need to downclock nor undrevolt it either, just make sure that you have a good air flow inside your case. If you think that OC'ing this GPU will bring some visible performance - you are wrong. To gain a small boost, a few extra unnoticeable FPS, you'll need to push this GPU core beyond 1700 MHz. In such case you'll likely need to increase the power limit to the maximim, overvolt (eg. +30mV or more) and get custom water cooling for that GPU - all that will be a very expensive "upgrade" for just some minuscule performance boost.
