All right so this summer I'm getting a new CPU. That means new motherboard and RAM. I picked these.

Either a Q6600 or a E8400. Which I cannot decide yet.
A new PSU as well

What do y'all think about compatibility and such. Also I would expect to see performance boost from it. I will be OC'ing the CPU so I'd appreciate any suggestion for a good cooler. I'm using the Antec SuperLanboy Tower (midsize thing). Main thing is gaming but I heard the Q6600 is more "future proof".
IMO that will do you fine, I have owned two Q6600's but I dont see them particularily future proof for gaming, there are VERY few genuine multi thredded games out there that have the ability to effectively use more than 2 cores and the thing is, developers still are not bringing many to the shelves, if you look at a game such as Supreme Commander, whilst it is multithredded, clock for clock over a dual core, a quad core only on average improves performance by 3%, when you couple the lower volts, less heat and generally higher overclockability of a modern Intel dual core then in fact you can get more performance out of that.
Personally I would stick with your motherboard selection which is fine, I would save a little cash and downgrade to an E8200 which is easily capable of 4gig, it has the same 6mb L2 Cache and in gaming terms, once you get above bout 3.6gig you will see little difference from your dual core, as an example, in Crysis you would see no difference between 3.6gig and 3.8gig in the game.
Lastly, with the money I saved on the CPU, I would upgrade the memory to 4GB of the GSkill PC8000 for a little more overclocking headroom, this is a really good kit and for the price, is one of the best 4GB kits......................

Just noticed the memory is the same price as you selected!.............bargain!
Very lastly.....
The PSU is fine also, Do you really need 750W? I would perhaps save a little money and go 600-650W but Corsair is a pretty decent brand.
