No, the single slot cooler will fit just fine, it will over lap sata ports 2 and 3, and I am use sata ports 1 and 4... In other words, its gonna be between them. Its a tight fit, but I have measured today (also did a fan mod to my PSU).

Maybe I will replace it with the zalman some day, but you cannot beat the price for that card.

The fan noise has to do with the drivers, its not hardware controlled sadly. Like my evga 7600gt, it makes huge noise when doing high 3D, and takes 5 mins to spin low after the 3D is over. Now with the latest drivers, it take 5 seconds.

I would get this 109 after a rebate flash it to the XXX version like i did and buy a good cooler with the alomost 40.00 difference http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150275 . The 9600 gt and the 8800gs are really about equal with the 8800 gs beating it in shader heavy games and the 9600gt edging the 8800 gs just barely in other games when both cards are overclocked to the max. My card at 704/1781/ddr2 1900 will match any 9600gt max overclocked, you almost cannot tell which is which. it is a waste of money really to buy a 9600gt over a 8800gs unless equally priced then a 9600gt would be a better buy but not at 40.00 more.

As you see in this thread, I was debating over the two. But from numerous reviews, I came up to the conclusion that if you have monitor that is lower than 22", get the 8800GS, if you have a 22" monitor, get the 9600GT, and if you have a monitor greater than 22", get the 8800GT.

Na the 8800 gs can handle over a 22 inch monitor, heck when oced it matches or exceeds a 8800 gt at stock as does a 9600 gt. Performance wise there is really no difference in the two. In sli there might be because of the giant shader advantage two 8800gs would have but other than that they are the same.

Well I do bet it can handle a 22in monitor. Lets say the 9600GT get 70FPS, and the 8800GS gets 55FPS, its still smooth gameplay.

more like 70FPS 9600 gt and 65FPS 8800 gs when both are max overclocked

here is my card oced with my Qx9650

believed it or not i gained only about 200 points over my best record in this benchmark using aQx9650 over a X3210 at 3.8ghz. That means the card is completely maxed out . I have a friend with a 9600 gt 512 with his max overclocking and a X3220 at 3.8ghz he beat this bench by about 100 points. This proves my point the 9600gt is only slightly faster and not worth 40.00 more dollars than a 8800gs.

even with AA/AF? I think not ;)

You are wrong here aswell they match up almost exactly the same. If anything the 8800 gs would be faster it has millions more gpu transistorson on it's gpu a G92 over the G94 on the 9600gt and 30 more shaders. No matter you bought the 9600gt and it is a great card and performs almost exactly the same as a 8800gs so you should be all set.
