Friend brought my old computer saying that it wouldn't boot its a

After bios reset it posted but the GFX is messy. At posts screen I there are red thin horizontal stripes,on raid bios screen the letters are messy but there are no stripes.
During windows logo there are vertical stripes. In windows horizontal but some elements appear unaffected by the stripes like mouse pointer.
Gonna begin swapping when i get to a computer shop but what could possibly happen ? He says he was installing Railroad Tycoon
