Hardware Canuck’s has a small preview of the upcoming revision of the 8800 GTS thanks to EVGA and their soon to be launched 8800GTS 112 SP SSC Edition which as the name suggest features 112 shaders over 96 in the current models. They’re working on a full review of the card and at the moment the only benchmark available is of Crysis under DX10.

The card itself has 640MB of DDR3 memory and it has the same 320-bit memory interface as the old 8800 GTS, but the extra shaders boost the performance quite nicely, although it’s less than 1fps faster than the EVGA 8800 GT Superclocked edition in Crysis at 1,600x1,200 which isn’t really that impressive.

None the less, it’s a step in the right direction although expect to pay a small price premium for these cards over the current 8800 GTS, at least to start with. You can find the quick preview at Hardware Canuck’s here

strange probably a typo.

just go with an 8800GT or wait for the new 8800GTS with the G92 which is rumored to have as high as 196 SP at 2.4GHz (probably not, but some sites are speculating) probably 128 at 1.8GHz or so if they even are making it.

if the extra SP don't draw significant voltage you can push that card to 600MHz core/2GHz mem/1.6GHz SP comfortably. which would increase the FPS in that Crysis benchmark by at least 5FPS.

Lol

What happened to the days when there was 2 top range cards... 1 from ati and 1 from nvidia.. Now you have a massive choice.

I for one wouldn't be buying a 8800gts atm. Not with the GT out and what not.

I have noticed a big price drop in the 8800gts 320mb model only, in Aussie in the last few days. I actually saw one for under $300!!!! that is crazy for over here.
