890GX Chipset

Can anyone here specify which are the full specifications of the new amd chipset, 890GX?
There has been a lot of trouble putting all the features together in a mobo, so usually those mobos which are developed lately do not have all the specifications.

I have seen in fudzilla old archives that the chipset has pci express 3.0 capability.

I believe it will have SATA III capabilities, not sure about USB 3.0 yet. No PCI-E 3.0. We'll know for sure before it's released in April... I think.

The PCI express is all about southbridge when it comes to amd. I found another article in fudzilla mentioning the PCI ex 3.0, but unfortunately after a year there is still nothing to confess. Maybe they dont want the sb800 series really unleash its features cuz it will make intel mad and create the same things as amd. Either way have a look at this:

Those are some pretty old articles! According to them, this chipset should have been released about a year ago. I'm sure it'll be an impressive chipset though and am excited to find out soon. The PCI-E shouldn't matter too much yet. Maybe in another generation or two of graphic cards, but newer chipsets will be out by then anyway. Interesting reads though.

from what i remember, 890GX is just a refresh of current chipsets. Might have SATA III/USB 3.0, but likely as add-on cards and not truly part of the chipset.

USB 3.0 is implemented through a USB 3.0 chip by NEC which is soldered to the motherboard on the Gigabyte 890GX board. SATA III is done through the 880 south bridge. PCI-E 3.0 isn't on any motherboard because it is certainly not needed at this time in any situation. There are other changes to the chipset with adding 1866Mhz memory support. I would expect to see some full rundowns of the 890GX anf FX chipsets very soon as they will be released soon.

This sounds like a bad translation, but anyway from what I've been reading for months now both 890FX & 890GX chipsets will have full SATA600 & USB3.0 support along with more than 48PCIE x 16 v2.0 lanes along with several enhancements over the current 790FX chipset.

All I have to say is keep a very close EYE on MSI's 890FX & 890GX based motherboards, I have a feeling they will blow your mind with there extensive feature rich platform & cost. I am sure ASUS will have a nice counter for them but ASUS is always $20 to $100 more expensive for either equal or less than what MSI will be offering. Gigabyte? No thank U :nutkick:

AMD's 890FX and 890GX chipsets, Bulldozer-based processor to support!

Ongoing design work is based on architecture and the Bulldozer 2011 to market with next-generation processors, AMD plans to introduce, will be launched in the coming months with the Bulldozer-based chipset 890FX and 890GX processors will support a new generation. Stated to be introduced in May to June, but probably also to the Computex 2010 exhibition postponed spoken 890FX chipset Socket AM3 processors in the first stage will be compatible with the motherboard, and then in the form of Zambezi AM3R2 Socket for processor boards prepared.

Socket will have a similar structure Zambezi Bulldozer-based processor family has been using the 890FX chipset Socket AM3 motherboards whether or not to use the yet unknown, but according to information from companies, 8-series chipsets and new current-generation processors, as well as be compatible with the Bulldozer.
