8GB GPU Ram not enough to handle Titanfall 2

Hi lads.

The 1080 Cassified it's a great card but in the last few weeks while playing Titanfall 2 i have had some game crashes due GPU memory because 8GB are not enough.

Any tips how to reduce memory GPU usage?

Lower the texture quality and other graphic enhancement settings.

Have you checked VRAM usage in GPU-Z? It shouldn't be crashing on an 8GB card unless there's a memory leak somewhere.

I was googling and I have found out that to run the game with insane settings you need 8GB+ or run the game with high setting would solve the problem.

When playing the memory usage is 8GB+

They want you to play it on windows 10!

Joking aside, I don't know any other game that uses so much vram...
Time to upgrade to Titan X Pascal!!

Well, don't blame the card, blame the game for bad optimization for PC.

I would also be VERY interested in a side by side of High and Insane. If Insane means MSAA x16 then yeah... whatever.

EDIT: well... I am having a hard time actually seeing the difference from Medium onwards. Game looks like shit on all settings and is definitely just built around a single texture resolution that gets additional polish on higher settings than Medium. These are definitely not higher res textures. Lazy console port, hi.

So nobody can play their games at Insane settings because no GPU exists with the amount of memory required. (Oh sorry, a Titan X would do)

Grade A game development right there. Developers need to make some use of the new Maxwell texture compression techniques.

maybe its called "insane" for a reason.. he he..

i have a couple 980 TI cards but something stopped me from selecting the "insane" texture setting.. i wonder what.. he he

the game plays fine for me at 1440 with no memory problems..

i think "very high" comes below "insane"..

That wouldn't be a problem but it would be absurd to upgrade just for 1 game.

If Insane means MSAA x16 then yeah... whatever.

in the Video settings there is not MSAA option but TSAA.

well, i tried the game with high settings and maximum memory usage was 3900MB instead 8190MB when playing with insane settings.

Note: not all the game need 8GB just some scene require more ram usage.

Yes but that also looked like it was making use of all those resources. And Far Cry isn't on CryEngine - well the first one is, I'll give you that.

Titanfall looks like something from three years ago.

And in looking at the data, it only shows the 8GB you hit, not the ramping up to it like I wanted to see. I wasn't clear there...

THe point I want is that does it grow to that size immediately, with another map load? Or when you start the game and go is it humming along constantly at 8GB.

That is because the Devs have made this game in anticipation of the AMD Vega series of GPU's that will be designed to handle the Insane settings.

if you have it running in the background while playing when you exit the game you'll see the vRAM usage and where it tops out etc I think that was what was implied.

Although I don't know why it's needed as I see as plain as day from your GPU-Z log that your vRAM is indeed hitting the 8GB for an extended period of time, seeing how long it takes to hit 8GB or when it happens etc will prove nothing more as the main issue at hand is that it's eating up all your vRAM, just knock the settings down a touch and be done with it imo

Start playing the game and let this run in the background thats all.
Afterwards make a screenshot of the after burner graph, memory usage is at the bottom.
