I've heard that these have WD Red drives in them or white label drives that are identical, or extremely similar, to the Reds.

I've got a guide on opening them to remove the drives without doing damage to the enclosure I found a while back.

I think i remember reading that they aren't standard drives any longer. Not sure where i saw that

They are still standard drives, but WD got wise to people pulling the Reds out and reselling them, so now they are white label drives. They still seem to be functionally the same as the Red drives though. However, some of them actually seem to be data center drives relabeled as white label drives too. Because they have a SAS spec, even though they are SATA drives, that uses pin 3 on the power connector to reset the drive. Since some power supplies and back-planes send 3.3v power to that pin, it can cause the drives to not work when connected.

Gotta love BB for store specific items like this. Im glad i was able to buy a non AIB branded gtx970 before BB closed my local store....if we still has one near id check for these drives too. I know their items can still be ordered online, but the prices you can get at specific sales in a "brick-and-mortar" store, just can't be beat when they want to move inventory before a new generation comes out
