Im working up a new rig right now and i was wondering if there is still value in 939skt systems or am i better off just donating it to someone else.
I would be selling my mobo the cpu and the ram listed in my profile is say $100 bucks asking to much or is there actually a demand for these parts.

$80 - $100 bucks for the CPU alone and it looks like a good clocker for an Opty.

$100 bucks for the motherboard.

Ram I'm not sure on.

I had a 939 opty at 3.0 GHz not that long ago, the system scored 5.5 on the cpu, and the value select ddr1 scored 5.9. Go figure, the entire system more than kept up. When I switched to a 3.5 GHz core 2 duo I got no performance increase in games. I think the trick is if the game is gpu dependent like crysis you won't see a difference. If the game does show an improvement, odds are it was already running above 60 FPS. I don't think 80 fps vs. 100 really matters, especially with vsync. So as long as you have a good gpu these older systems have a good amount of life left.

Opteron 165. - ebay average about $80 bucks

A8N-SLI Premium - ebay average about $90 bucks

There are still a lot of s939 systems out there from when AMD was the performance king. Many people would rather upgrade their existing systems than buy something completely new.

If I were you, I would sell the CPU for 70, motherboard for 70 and RAM for 70... or take the whole deal for $200

As a few others have suggested, definitely part it rather than sell as a bundle. DDR prices have shot up recently, and that Opteron chip is still worth a good bit of cash. The motherboard will probably be the most difficult component to drop, unless you find someone who just happened to have an S939 mobo go out on them and are looking for a performance-oriented replacement.

You have the benefit of the 939 being rarer than chicken's teeth, so anyone with that H/W that had a component die, will be searching hard for 939 stuff. So demand = price price price:)

$200 is probably streching it some, but as a combo, atleast $160.

This. I'm not pitching/selling any of my 939 hardware. It is all boxed up in original packaging on a shelf just incase a motherboard or processor dies in my other 939 system. There are virtually no places to buy 939 retail anymore (and the stuff they do sell is crap)--used is your only real option.

I have no idea how much you could get for it because I'm horrible at guesstimates. There is demand for those parts though, at least for a while longer.
