940BE Idle temps too high?

why not 4ghz. i was leaning towards a 1055t i should be able to swing 4ghz right?

No, it's a great purchase. But the stock fan can be loud at higher RPM's. The heatsink itself is great. Also, make sure to get some decent thermal paste with it, if not, you could use the stock stuff. I also recommend you make sure you fill the "gaps" in between the heatpipes and the alloy block that holds them. Otherwise you could end up with heat "pockets". (I'm of course talking about the base of the cooler.)

It's not hard to install at all, nor is applying the thermal paste hard. Plus the single backplate means you don't have a ton of adapters for different socket types sitting around.

thats hard to answer, seems how this cooler went up in price, there's a wide selcetion to pick from, bottom line stick with a cooler that is well know to prefrom good. If your located in canada i would suggest canada computers in still going for cheap $34.99

Corduroy, not to be rude, but there is a edit button. You could use that instead of posting three times in a row. Also, I suggest you post you second rig in the case mod gallery or a project log if you want other users input, maybe the "Your PC ATM" thread.

Enough derailment, back to the topic at hand, the Hyper 212+ is a great cooler and is more than adequate for your cooling needs joeyck.

Good luck, doubt it'll come back in stock, Xiggy's stuff has been hard to come by.

Since you have the Antec 900 two I think any of the top performing coolers will do. That case can do wonders. I had the first Antec 900 case and I switched some things around. I had the Xigmatek Dark knight cooler with 1 Scythe Ultra Kaze 120mm 3,000RPM Case Fan I replaced the stock 120s with 3 Scythe Ultra Kaze 120mm 3,000RPM Case Fans no side fan I left that open. I made all the fans blow air in even the top and rear. My temperatures were amazing was it loud yes but I never broke into the 50s. Since then I upgraded the case and bought a Corsair H50 that was a mistake for the case I have now worked great in the 900 though. The H50 works better when it's used as an intake. My temps are no where near what I had with the 900. I don’t think you have to go to the extreme I did for cooling almost any cooler out is better than the stock so you will be pleased once you get one.

Thats because you have the H50 setup as an intake. By doing this you break that natural flow of the case. I recommend setting up a push-pull configuration as an exhaust.

the H50 is supposed to be an intake, its the only way to cool the water unless you put the water holding block on the outside then yes sure but then the water will be warm since it is not fresh clean air... but none the less I'm going with Edward on this and buying the 212+ he sent the link for cheap as hell.

Its as an exhaust in my Raven temps are no where close should have kept my Dark Knight for this case at least. Lacking the CFM from the Kaze's I knew there was no way I would get the same temps. Any cooler other than the stock will do you made your choice I am sure you will be pleased with your temps when you get the cooler.
