9600 nonpro oc to 460/260. Flash to 9600XT?

Hi,

i have a HIS Excalibur 9600 ViVo 128MB without Fan.
After i have installed Arctic VGA Cooler ,i have used ATItool to find the OC possibilitys of this card.

ATItool shows me after 2hours that i can OC my card from default core/mem 325/200 to
460/260.

1.) Is it possible and a good idea to flash this card with a 9600pro or 9600XT Bios?

2.) ATItool shows me that the GPU is a RV350. Is this the correct information or must i identify the GPU by the numbers on the chip?

3.) What will happen if i OC this card to 500/300 with this big powerfull vga cooler? Will i only see some artifacts or can this crash my card?

It is possible, but provides no benefits over just using ATITool

You must look at the chip

3.) What will happen if i OC this card to 500/300 with this big powerfull vga cooler? Will i only see some artifacts or can this crash my card?
If ATITool finds 460 as max core, then that is your max core. Cards can still break if they are not hot but over-overclocked

I don't know about XT, but I know you can flash to a 9600 Pro with those speeds (actually, the Pro's stock memory is 300). Do they all use the same core?

9550, 9600 non-pro mostly use the RV350, most 9600 Pro and 9600XT use the RV360

- don't push it too hard, there is more to it than just cooling solution.. i.e. overall board design,voltages,discrete components capability...even if it would not crash your system or fry your card right away, but chances are in the long run, it will...and significant lifespan will be shortened...

- 9600's are RV350...

No, the 9600/9550 line uses the RV350 or RV360
Most 9600 Non-Pro,9600 SE, 9550, 9550SE use RV350, though rarely youwill find a RV360
Majority of 9600 Pro, 9600XT use the RV360 which is a much more capable core.
The only way to know which core you have is to look at the chip itself.

Well my Curiosity got the better of me and I pulled the Heatsink of my BB ATI 9600 AIW and oddly enough the Core just said Radeon 9600 no core code recognizable as RV350 or otherwise. Of course I any software reads it as a RV350 but just thought I would check my BIOS is also a tought one to find I guess nobody touches 9600AIW for OC'ing I usually have mine 23% OC with no probs 397/240 tho it HAS been hiccuping lately. I have a Custom fan mod on the HS (GF2 fan mounts very nicely to the HS)

What does ATITool show as its max core oc?

Well truthfully I am not willing to push it past 450 but it gets there just fine so I figure puttin in Pro Core speeds is safe

There is no reason to flash to XT

Actually heres a bit of an update on My particular Card.
I am a Canadian who has moved to Norway and have a BB ATI 9600 AIW and well the AIW here is USELESS as I have an NTSC Tuner and the cable is VERY different here so I successfully Flashed it as a 9600NP I had thought about doing this for awhile as I now have no use for the VIVO/AIW functions it works fine and even turned up my memory clocks 5Mhz

Now I am now wondering if I could chance trying to maybe try flashing it to a Pro BUT I know I have the Samsung 4.0Ns(K4D261638E-TC40) memory so I would assume that would make a Pro flash useless
