This is my first ati card & was wondering if there is any way the 9700pro can be modded to an XT (or higher spec not fussed really !!), either thru bios flash or gpu mod.
Cheers :)

Stock is 325/310
You can oveclock it to 380/340 and maybe more. I had ati 9700 NON PRO and oc-ed ti ti 9800 pro clocks. Same clocks as 9800 pro.
Card is preety much the same as 9800 pro. 256 bit 8 pipes etc etc.

Though the 9800 pro generally has the much more capable R360 core, while the 9700 pro runs the r300

Of course there is difference. But as i said, you can get much more from 9700 pro than stock clocks.

P.S. 9800 pro is basically r350 not r360. XT is r360

What cooling did you use on the card to get those figures?

Ramsinks were spire sinks.Pretty big and i had to make 8 smaller pieces from 2 big.

I had bba radeon 9700 with 3.3 hynix (or 3.6 i forgot.)

Maybe better choice is 6800 LE for now. Same price and about 8000 3dmark03 stock. If u unlock it to 12 pipes without problems you can even get more.
NOTE: I had 2 leadtek 6800le and couldnt open 12 pipes. Were broken.Other 4 pieces went ok. Gainward: 3 of 3. Just a small note. Im an ATI lover but i must admit that 9800 pro is not better that 6800LE stock.Same price here in my country.
Flashed 9800 pro to XT is still not better than unlocked 6800LE to 12 pipes.
Just my opinion.

How much does the 6800 LE cost in $ USD?
