Why have video card prices dropped significantly in last three months- are we getting a sniff of the new gen. cards soon?

Have been watching the 9800 pro s on ebay and in the shops get cheaper- still same great card but cheaper....same with the x800xt PE-

anyone got any advice- i need a new card and not sure if i should hang until newies come out or buy a bargain at the moment......x800xt pe maybe...

Isn't it a good thing that prices are becoming more affordable? Anyway, 9800Pro is getting cheaper because I believe that ATI is using it to pit against 6600GT in the AGP field. And of cause due to the announcing of new ATI cards soon. Can't wait for the next gen graphic cards to appear. ;)
