Hey guys im new here , long time reader. Im having a problem with my 9800gt see i was changing over my stock cooling to an aftermarket arctic. When i was unscrewing the heat sink from the board i accidentaly chipped one or two of the ferrite beads beads off. At the moment the card is DEAD and does not work =( im really spewing.

So long story short is there a way i could solder new ferrite beads on ? is there another way i could quick fix this situation because i know the card isn't ruined only what i accidentaly done.

If pics are needed i will upload.

Thanks in advance guys =)

In a state of flux...
I REALLY doubt this can be fixed....sorry to say but I think your card is dead, maybe an RMA would be accepted but I even doubt that.

For now, snap some pictures and lets see if anyone else has any ideas.

And for the record, next time be more careful! :)

Can i get 2 beads from an old board iv got and solder them on? or am i out of luck =( fucking really sucks using a 6200 lol

If they came off there is no reason for them not to be resolderd on?

Hi, i'm work on SMT industries.
That component look like chip resistor. what u need do is.. measure the value with multimeter on that chip. FYI: the value is in OHM unit. Then go to electronic component shop nearby and buy the correct chip.

one thing, also need know the chip wattage. normally it's very low that 1/4 watt component.

yup, if you know the resistance of the resistor and have good enough soldering skills you should be able to fix it but if more broke off which probably happened, then is useless really

Ye , cant help it ay lol i want things done and done NOW! Fucking soldering little pissy cubes made me click it. lol Okayyy sooo now we are over that heap of crap what are my options guys ? i aint rich nor poor but i am on a budget so im looking for something that will rape my 9800gt but is also cheapish.

I used to be able to play crysis warhead on all gamer setting @1360x getting 45fps ? was very playable but not good enough.

4770,4850,4870,4890,5750,5770 etc...

all of which are in that price range

You might even find a 5830 in that range But you will also need a decent PSu
Nevermind a 5830 wont be that cheap for another month and a half

I was thinking 4830 or possibly 4850. 5770 would be a good pickup

a 5770 would be a good buy - when overclocked its faster then a 4870

shit you guys are really helpful , cant even keep up with youse haha awsome. But yea 5770 overclocked sounds good. Mate has one with his e8500 and to be honest i was expecting a little more ? maybe im just a picky bastard. Thats why im thinking wait and buy a 5850 and leave it as that.

ahh this frustrated me =( no gfx card makes baby jesus cry . All because i wanted better cooling only because i couldnt overclock the card past 650mhz core :s pos i was hoping for 700+ now i hav 0mhz =D yay for me

Oh n btw , how are nvidias new cards ? do they compare to radeons new ones.. i know the 5850 shits all over the gtx280
