i just changed from an Acer 24" TN 1080 144hrz gaming panel to an Asus rog 27" IPS 1440 144/165hrz gaming panel..

all my benchmark scores have gone down by about 10%.. i am running them at 1080 levels.. firestrike has gone down from 22000 to 20000.. heaven down from 4400 to 4000..

i thought it might be running the benchmarks in a none native resolution but i get the same results in firestike extreme and ultra.. scores down by around 10%..

i thought it might be g sync but on or off it dosnt make any difference nether does the refresh rate i run at.. everything checks out the same clocks and the like but i have lost around 10% off my benchmark scores.. ??

i cant figure out why a change of monitor should lower benchmark scores but it definitely seems to have done just this.. i can live with lower benchmarks scores but its a puzzle why its happened.. :)

i changed my monitor to get a fast IPS panel for photo editing.. the acer was okay for as gaming panel.. but its colour gamut just wasnt right for photo work and its viewing angles were crap for more than one person watching movies and the like..

I would swap the old monitor back in and see if your scores bounce back up.

You didnt even glance at the post did you?

Yup sure did. I still say the PC is seeing the res of the new screen and changing shit behind the scenes regardless of settings. He also never stated if he is setting the benchmark to the res or the driver, but I would also assume there is some sort of down scaling going on to run the non-native res. More screen = more ass needed;)

i cant see as it should lower benchmark scores pete.. the only change is the monitor..

3dmark is 3dmark.. my firestrike score (scores) have gone down by roughly 10% in normal extreme and ultra..

i have double (triple) check everything that might have any affect.. the nvidia control panel knows the new monitor is there everything is as it should be.. except i am seeing a 10% performance decrease in common benchmarks.. it does need a benchmark to show it up because 10% isnt noticeable otherwise but its definitely there..

for a long time i have been seeing around 22000 in the default firestike now i see around 20000 roughly a 10% drop off..

i have been using the acer monitor for few months and have pretty good idea of what to expect when certain benchmarks are run.. so far my new asus £700 quid monitor seem to me losing me frame rates compared to my not that old acer panel.. :)

dont get me wrong i aint daft enough to expect the same fps at 1440 as at 1080.. but i think my 1080 firestrike score should be the same..

out of curiosity i did drop the monitors settings down to 1080 and ran firestrike.. i got the same less 10% result..

i think i know how all this stuff works and i aint a newbie.. i am simply commenting on what i am seeing.. i cant figure any logical reason for me seeing what i am seeing but i am seeing a 10% drop in benchmark scores.. both in 3dmark and in heaven..

its possible i may have missed something obvious but i dont think i have.. :)

ps.. to bill my monitor is on vesa stand and its a pain to get on and off.. but connecting up the acer monitor again just to see if i get my lost 10% back does seem the obvious thing to do.. he he..

i can do it without taking the new one off the vesa arm.. i will do it and see what the results are..

It seems a bitter pill either way. If the old monitor brings your higher scores back, what's wrong with the new monitor? And if the scores with the old monitor connected again are still down, then what happened to the computer?

Did you run the test immediately before and after the new monitor? Or had some time (days? weeks?) passed in between?

the figure at the bottom is what i expect to see running firestrike and have seen for quite some time..

the figure at the top dated today is what i am seeing now.. i didnt run immediately before and after tests and since discovering the performance drop off i have re-installed the nvidia drivers which means nothing is exactly the same as it was..

discovering the performance loss after running the new monitor may be (probably is) pure coincidence.. going back to the old monitor half brought my expected scores back.. they have stayed half back going back to the new one.. nothing is conclusive.. i am going to put it all down to ghosts in the machine.. :)

i will now be running 1440 as the norm and am not lacking frame rates so apart from being bit of a mystery all is well.. he he

the image quality with the somewhat over-priced gaming asus rog ips panel is a mile in front of the acer tn panel so i am happy with that.. :)
