- After viewing my current RAM settings ( voltage is at 1.4 ), what would you recommend in order to get the RAM at the advertised speed ( 3200Mhz )
- The shop that build the PC was not able to get it higher then 2800Mhz. So I'm happy I got the memory to 3000 at lower timings. But I would like to have the performance that I payed for.
- There are 2 Voltage options for the RAM, one of wich I don't know. It's at 0,6v. ( DRAM Termination )
- When I run CPUZ, it sas my CPU runs at 3.95Ghz. I've also never seen the CPU go up to 4.3Ghz. How can I make sure that my CPU is not clocked/limited at 4Ghz?

I'm not going to replace RAM for 5% extra performance lol. Just want some advise on how to improve the current sticks.

Listing all your system specs would help.
I can only surmise you have a Ryzen X based on your expectation of reaching 4.3GHz.

I mean if you just bought that system from a shop, hopefully you can return the ram and get some better sticks that will actually run at their rated speed on your 2700 lol.

Looking at the specs I see you have G.Skill Trident Z RAM

You shouldn’t have a problem hitting 3200MHz. You may have to up the timing though or see if XMP enables it.

Try 18-18-18-39 @1.4V

FlareX and TridentZ have shown to be some of the better sticks for Ryzen and many have had good results but one thing I noticed when I looked up your particular set is that they are certified for Intel Z170 and not AMD. That could be one of the reasons you can’t get them to run at rated speeds. As the normal set run just fine.

Did they spec the parts or did you? If they did, why did you accept it from them? That's a form of false advertising.

Ryzen's IMC is only capable of handling 2400 MHz in spec when two sticks that are DUAL RANK such as the the two 16GB sticks the OP has.

That’s an old pic and isn’t the same for Ryzen +

Not all IMC's are created equal. You could just be hitting the limit of your CPU. Perhaps it's best to read up on some guides for tweaking RAM. Either way, you're at 3000MHz with 4 sticks, you aren't going to be seeing much of any difference with 100-200MHz more.

These dont work. Is there a way to find all the timings for thr amd certified ones. Because i doubt they are using different chips.
Did they spec the parts or did you? If they did, why did you accept it from them? That's a form of false advertising.

I selected the sticks because they were the cheapest where I live.
The shop that build the PC only got the memory at 2800Mhz with very high timings because they kept the voltage at 1.2.
By increasing the voltage to 1.4 I was able to get the memory stable at 16-16-16-36 at 3000Mhz.
I think that the motherboard is holding me back. It's the cheapest x470 motherboard available.

I can't seem to find any reviews that demonstrate benchmarks on Ryzen with memory at the same speed, with different timings.
All reviews compare low latency + low speed vs higher latency + higher speed.

Ryzen's IMC is only capable of handling 2400 MHz in spec when two sticks that are DUAL RANK such as the the two 16GB sticks the OP has.

This is not up-to-date and only shows the speeds that are officially supported. You can go much higher then this…

I have two sticks of 16GB.

Try these timings (click the spoiler tag):

https://forums.anandtech.com/threads/amd-ryzen-builders-thread.2499342/page-194#post-39349699

Since your RAM doesn't have the timings that those of the post have, suggest you try the bottom right one, with 3000 MEMCLK ratio instead of 3600, assuming your board allows the selection of secondary and tertiary timings.

NOTE that you'll likely have to increase the RAM voltage for these to work: the dude that posted actually recommends 1.4 RAM volts.

In my case, i'm using the bottom left one with 3200 MEMCLK ratio instead of 3466 (my exact RAM is in system specs) but note that i increased RAM voltage by 0.03 over XMP voltage.

Sorry, i don't understand. I already got 16-16-16-36 stable and the one you recommend has 16-16-16-38. Won't that result in less performance?

This is the most stable setting I've found so far:

Memory Frequency 1499.7 MHz (3:45)
CAS# latency (CL) 16.0
RAS# to CAS# delay (tRCD) 16
RAS# Precharge (tRP) 15
Cycle Time (tRAS) 35
Bank Cycle Time (tRC) 50
Command Rate (CR) 1T
Uncore Frequency 1499.1 MHz

I've run Passmark and I gained only 0,05%. I don't see the point in lowering them more then this.
Ok, I don't have 3200MT/s, but I do have better timings so the performance loss isn't that big.

I do have one more question. I've currently have the RAM at 1.4v. Should I try to lower the voltage and see if it remains stable? Or is 1.4v fine for at least 2-4 years?

It's the secondary and tertiary timings that can give a boost and / or stability. Simply putting 16 / 16 / 16 / 38 sometimes doesn't work because the other timings are not properly configured.

If you're stable @ that voltage, try decreasing the voltage slightly and re-run stress tests to ensure it's stable. Keep reducing slightly until it's unstable: then select the value just above your last stable setting.

i snapped some photos of my ram settings on my board. These are at 1.35v, see if they work. if not i have some other parameters you could change and see if you can get it to take.

edit: forgot to mention these are at 3200mhz.

Software Ubuntu 19.04 LTS
I miss read: thought your RAM was 3000 when it's actually 3200.

Then try the timings below while changing MEMCLK ratio to 3200. It's these i'm using myself but with +.03 volts over XMP.

These are the bottom left timings from the page i linked in post #15.

Thanks for the info. I'll try that.

i snapped some photos of my ram settings on my board. These are at 1.35v, see if they work. if not i have some other parameters you could change and see if you can get it to take.

edit: forgot to mention these are at 3200mhz.

Tried. System wouldn't boot. But thanks for trying.

Hi, I've tested 3x X470 motherboards (Asus Crosshair VII Hero, Asus Strix X470-F Gaming and ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate) and all 3 can run my TridentZ at 3600 16-16-16-36 at 1.35V, no matter if it is DOCP or manual settings. They even run 3733 12-12-12, so it's a lot of potential in X470 regarding RAM.
I really believe that the problem is your motherboard. Maybe you can change it for an Asus, ASRock or MSI.

These are boards that cost 33-100% more then mine. Keep in mind that i bougt the cheapest x470 there is. I can't even change cpu core voltage in the bios.

I might also be unlucky. There are users that cant even get this memory to 3000mhz. Not every chip is the same.

He is on a Gigabyte board, they can't write a bios worth it to anyone, the only 2 are Asus and AsRock,
