Take out all but 1 stick of ram. You will probably have to manually set the memory to run @ 2T command rate for4 sticks before it will boot with 4 sticks.

well, googled a bit for you, and found this on the asus forums:
AMI BIOS Beep Codes
1 short DRAM refresh failure <---------------------------
2 short Parity circuit failure
3 short Base 64K RAM failure
4 short System timer failure
5 short Process failure
6 short Keyboard controller Gate A20 error
7 short Virtual mode exception error
8 short Display memory Read/Write test failure
9 short ROM BIOS checksum failure
10 short CMOS shutdown Read/Write error
11 short Cache Memory error
*1 long, 3 short Conventional/Extended memory failure* <-- your error code
1 long, 8 short Display/Retrace test failed

also, this site might help also:

http://www.pchell.com/hardware/beepcodes.shtml

Btw. the a8rmvp is a good board for running stock, I replaced it because after I turned it off (with oc) I had to fondle the powerbutton, cyceling the power without turning it off so the p.o.c. would boot!

Should i say :What have you tried?
have you tried with just 2 sticks? Are the memory modules supported by your mother board?
there should be a list in the user guide. Also the board might not support 4 gb without a bios update.. not sure on that though

yes and also i didnt understand your othe post clearely. Did you try booting from 1 stick? and when yuo said you tried the ram in other computers you said not even that worked correct? like you took out the old ram put in the new stuff and the other comp then wouldnt boot? Thats just what i got out of what you said and if im right it sounds like your ram is DOA id RMA it.

Is the motherboard still under warranty as you should return it and get something else, the A8R-MVP is a pile of shit!! I should know, I have the misfortune of owning one :( I get random restarts and the overclocking facility is terrible (it actually underclocks your system for some reason)

Even with the latest BIOS its still crap and ASUS deny any problem and will not release an updated BIOS to fix the problem FFS it wont even run just 2x sticks of RAM @ 1T!!!!

ASUS' tech dept deserve a kick in the bollox for allowing this pig of a mobo to go on sale!!!

The board is quite good, i use it on my other PC, only OC'd it once never had any problems. im sending the board back over RMA as ASUS said there was a batch of dead boards shipped. so i can declare this case closed

I want another motherboard, and am truly on the fence between this and the DFI equivalent (CFX 3200-DR).

go for the dfi, since it's xpress 3200.
I'm off ASUS for good!
I asked them if I could purchase a switchcard for my board, since it was DEMO from a webshop (been tested by the shop) and it included everything except switchcard, and I wanted 16Xpcie out of principal ;)

I got a reply that this board did not use a switchcard.
and she linked me to the product page ?!?

?
? ?
0_o

here is ASUS LYING to a customer.

not only that, I sent them looong emails describing in detail various issues I and others had with the board, and methods trying to fix them, all leading to needing a better bios.

in reply I got just standarized replies, and when I asked since the A8R32-MVP had have a lot of similar issues fixed in a new bios, If you only got any proper support if you bought the high end version, in reply: only the high end cards have overclocking abilities.. ?!?

I got pissed, and replied that if this was their actual support, that it was below abysmal, and I wanted this forwarded to someone whit a little brain (i.e. manager or above) guess what the reply was..

Nothing, checking the online reply service (wich is where you write the complain and read followups if email is out) they had deleted it!!!
so do what I did, buy something else than Asshole Support Un-educated Shitheads (or ASUS in short)

and i need people who can join me in sending them fishguts until they sharpen up their product support (everything from webpages, drivers, to customer support)
Who's With me?

i have a A8R-MVP used one week lying about that will NEVER be started again by me.
NO MORE ASUS!

Oh OK, I meant the A8R32. That's what I thought this thread was about. The layout of the a8r32 is a bit better for me than the dfi, it's passive, and it tends to work better out of the box :) However, enough people are complaining about persistent issues on that one, to make the dfi look that much more attractive, warts notwithstanding
