You have to get a Z97/Z87 board for official overclocking support.

There are several Asus boards that are not Z series that are supposed to support overclocking the G3258 at the moment. But it is not officially supported by intel and could disappear in the future.
I'd stick with a Z87/Z97 to be safe.

My MSI B85-G43 Gaming received an update that allows G3258 overclocking on the B85 chipset, but again, we don't know if this is a repeat of the non-Z OC crap from last year, or if Intel is the one backing this. A Z series board is guaranteed not to be restricted, though.

Just got my g3258 batch number 3419b312 its at the end of the wafer and a cool runner with lots of voltage hoping to get 5ghz on air more on water.
