Techpowerup, seriously what's going on with you guys.... First politically themed "editorials" and now Ryzen hype Intel paranoia segments (i get it we are all excited for competition in the processor space again). Last time I checked one retailer having a sale doesn't equal a company wide price cut. sure You state this but that's like saying I saw everyone go crazy...Well one in a thousand ...but that's virtually every one. Fysa microcenters CPU prices are usually lower by at least 10%. I have been a huge fan of this site since I was in my early teens and the multi user quiz section ignited my desire and love to know more about technology that motivates me everyday at work, so please don't stoop to Wccftech levels and make me get my news from Tom's hardware (yuck) or even worse.....Wccftech.

Apologies for formatting on phone....Also my bad if posted in wrong section.

Lol, I was replying to that thread when it was pulled. Yeah, need to stop posting articles with very misleading titles. It gives total credence, unfortunately, to the trend of fake news.

Slow news day?

There was a hilarious clickbait article on pcgamer about the "muslim ban" a couple of weeks back which I figured could be accounted for by it's loose association with gaming and the slow news of a monday afternoon.

Are we talking about this article? https://www.techpowerup.com/231019/following-ryzens-launch-intels-cpus-likely-to-see-price-cuts

While I agree it appears to be a single sale at MC and the premise may be a little flawed, it is marked as an editorial and I personally really enjoyed the article. It is clearly an opinion and is labeled as such, so I'm not sure I see the problem. While I despise hiding an opinion as a fact and calling it reporting (fake news), I interpreted this as simply an editorial written by a tech-enthusiast reporter that saw a likely trend in the market and chose to write his insight on the subject. (Really, do you guys really think price cuts aren't coming?)

I thought it was very well written and read well. JAT

I don't want opinions on the news. In fact, I thought we already had an overzealous newsie that injected too much (left field) opinion who no longer writes for tpu? That said, the thoughts expressed by this guy are more grounded in truth and not opinion/speculation. Can't say I have any real issues with the new guy. :)

Though, a mistake in that article listing $80 price cuts on 7700k by going with the outlandish 'regular' price which it never was at microcenter. The most I saw it was $349. As of a few weeks ago when I bought mine, it was $329. It's still 350 at newegg, but I'm sure that will drop. Typically MC is not OVER newegg prices on cpus. The worst I have seen is matching (talking major chips.. K chips..). MSRP was $305 on 7700K, remember?

So you do not think a reporter should be able to share their opinion on the facts, even if they clearly state that it is an opinion? No evidence of price cuts from Intel, nor that they are planning to adjust to market conditions due to AMD's release, so the entire article is framed on opinion. But I still think it is worthwhile for someone to share their opinion when they clearly label it as such.

That way we can all come together and discuss how wrong we all are! :toast:

Perhaps it's only me...

But, I personally don't want any Bill and Tom's opinion on anything. I prefer facts and for me to judge/form my own conusion). I get enough opinions from the posts after it without having an opinion in the first post 'lead' the discussion. Let the actual news lead the conversation, not an opinion of the writer.

But if this is an editorial, as i think was said, then he's ok (for whatever that is worth, lol).

The problem is that we're getting more and more of these here at TPU.
I know click counts get higher, and in today's internet that's just about all that is really important but i hope W1zz will start doing some much needed changes to get back on track

I don't think the politics one was an editorial, am sure it was sourced and linked, just stating for point of fact, not in it's defence.

I don't know why people get so hung up on editorials. They give food for thought and are actually rather harder to write than simply repeating someone else's news in your own words. Keep them coming.

It is apparently a different article than the one I linked. As I did not see the original, I retract my previous objection and defer to the judgment of those that saw the original article.

Sorry for any confusion. JAT

This is an editorial, it's intent.. as I found earlier from another post. :)

But....but....but.... it was deleted! Doesn't that make all the pissing and moaning in this thread sort of pointless?
I could see if the thread was still live, but to pull news or an editorial, the "gods" saw it fit for removal and did so, not just anyone can pull such content;)

Let's be honest, you all aren't going anywhere! TPU is like a drug with the worst kind of addiction! It is just a few stories in the vast years of you reading what TPU does, I cannot see it as a reason to leave forever over it.

I get your point this is a tech site but without speculation, leaks and rumors it would be little more than press releases. I see the post as a response to the forum buzz just showing and indicator of the predicted price cut in a place that's seen by more people. As for the intel[foxcons best bud]/trump story, call BS when it's BS. The top tech firm meeting the pres is a tech story after all.

There was never a problem with the news. You're clearly referring to me here and in your earlier comment in this thread and it's getting annoying. It was people like you causing a stink all the time just trolling with nasty, attacking comments. I was actually on your side and everybody else's side calling out the wrongdoers who give us a bad deal if you'd actually understood what you were reading, so you should have been with me, not against me.

Can you stop dragging me into it now?

Usually because the people that start them are deliberately trying to flamebait others and then the threads descend to insults and arguments, but you would know that of course :p

I personally like the editorials it shows they read the forums and keep an eye on the scene as a whole. The language could be toned down though it's pretty exaggerate and only leads to fueling the already raging fire here.

You take things too personally... good Lord man.

To put it simply, no matter who is giving me the news... I don't care for opinions driving the way people should discuss an issue. Particularly uninformed ones. Its just that simple. If your articles had an off the wall take, chances are, I didn't like that article. But, I am NOBODY... really.. Just one opinion. Don't take it personal. It is what it is. :)

I am not sure what you were going on about regarding 'my side' and calling out wrongdoers... All I know is I didn't like your opinion injected into the news at times.. That's all. Awfully hard to be on 'my side' if you were injecting opinion in news as I don't like that type of 'reporting'...particularly uninformed takes.
