Hello there folks,

Recently iv been offered a deal on Nvidia Tesla V100.
I know it is not that of a gaming hardware. Yet i want to know its pros and cons and for what its used for?
I have a decent idea about it but i want to do my homework so that i can buy the actual gpu.

For this i need to help for checking it. May be stress tests and all there is to be. I will be checking it thoroughly for once and for all. Afterwards there will be no claim or warranty of any kind. I am clearly buying this for the sake of investment.

Tesla is used for compute tasks. It has support for Double Precision which is a big deal for mathematical and scientific work.
The V100 also has dispaly outputs. So you can use it for gaming the same as the Titan V can be used for gaming. There are very few differences between the Tesla V100 and the Titan V. The main one is VRAM (Tesla has double the Titan depending on model). I don't know if you can use Geforce drivers with a Tesla V100, probably not, you might be able to mod them to work though.

Sorry but the one im talking about lacks output display ports like hdmi or DP.
Im talking about the following card
https://www.itcreations.com/view_product.asp?product_id=106305

I brought it for checking purposes but it seems the drivers cannot be installed. Iv tried both windows 10 and windows 7 64bit versions and downloaded Tesla V100 64bit drivers from nvidia’s website. Both operating systems displays the same error that the drivers cannot be installed.
I even tried to manually address the driver files and even tried force installing them. Non worked and i was still left with 3d video controller displayed in device manager.
If im not wrong these kind of issues are common in geforce and certain radeons where the card runs but you just cant install any drivers what so ever.
Iv tried the card on a 4th Gen PC with proper voltage provision to the hardware i even addressed the issue by providing a separate 600w PSU to the card.

the card needs returning. it should work with the basic drivers at least. take it to someone who knows how to repair gpu's as my titan v is a beast. it still wipes the floor with the latest rtx super cards. which is not unexpected due to the extra 1000 shaders... you could try baking it... I would also look at trying to swap it for another...

Don't bother, profitability has been killed the only reason it'd be worth it is if you have free electricity and don't mind not making the cost of the GPU back.

I always opposed crypto-currency being an accountant. As it tried on no value basis and collapsed. But i was surprised to see this as i can still get the card and running it somehow. But if cost is the case and there is nothing left in mining. I think i should just drop the light bulb then ?

mining is fine if you dont mind building a good off the grid system to run the mining rig... a couple of turbines and a few solar panels would do it... with a home made power wall.

theres a few good tutorials on YouTube showing you how... :toast:
