The 4070 has AV1 recording, better ray tracing performance and lower power draw. 6950XT has better rasterization performance and 4GB more VRAM. Pick what is more important to you.

this sounds more important to me not sure what ray tracing is can I go one step lower than a 6950, will I still be able to play most of my games on 1440p? red dead 2/overwatch 2/witcher 3/wartales/black desert/rainbowsix? also getting a 1440p monitor

This answers that question better than anyone on this forum can. Most people don't have both cards to answer that conclusively.

Get a 4070 Ti at minimum, or save money and buy a 6800XT.

Your monitor and ssds aren't great either.

Look at our reviews and sort by editors choice. Pick up anything in that list from the past two years.

Um, they already have a 6950XT. A 6800XT would be a downgrade. Did you mean a 7800XT?

You don't need to. Your SSD is fine. My 2cents, your 6950XT is an excellent card, you don't need to upgrade or replace it.

I don't think he has purchased either at least the way I am interpreting it is he is asking which one to buy. His current parts list includes a 6950XT

That is not the same monitor as the one in the list.

Maybe make a clear post detailing what you have/don't have.

Buying a better PSU would be a good idea too if your budget isn't tight, which it isn't. Look at an ATX 3.0 model like a dark power 13, or one of the better Corsairs/Seasonic Prime.

Both the 4070 and 6950XT are excellent cards at 1440p they offer different feature sets though. I personally prefer better RT performance and DLSS over FSR but if those are not important to you the 6950XT is likely the better option neither is good at RT without upscaling either way.

And? You seem to be missing the point.

Compared to? For $75 it's a good value.

A Corsair, Seasonic or EVGA PSU would be a better choice.
can you recommend me a good power supply that will give my system then enough power thats modular and very trust worthy I will take your suggestion and replace mine then

Oh, I don't know. Maybe a model that isn't three years old QLC.

Cheap isn't the be all and end all of purchasing criteria.

As stated previously, there's lots of good options in TPU reviews.
