Acer America today has unveiled the Acer B243PWL, a new 24-inch ergonomic display with premium IPS technology, which provides excellent wide angle viewing and color saturation. It's designed to meet the needs of business, education and government customers who require first-rate color reproduction.

Leveraging an IPS panel, the Acer B243PWL delivers uniform color temperature at nearly every point for consistent images even when the screen is viewed 60 degrees from the center - up to 178 degrees horizontally and vertically - making it ideal for swiveling and pivoting and multi-monitor set-ups.

Offering exceptional connectivity, the Acer B243PWL comes with DisplayPort in addition to VGA and DVI (w/HDCP). DisplayPort provides both true digital images and crystal clear audio via one small cable, which saves space and provides a clean look and feel. DisplayPort works with the computer or projector without resorting to artifact inducing encoding. It delivers every pixel to the screen as rendered by the PC with the highest accuracy and fastest response required to support the B243PWL's high resolution, refresh rate and color depth.

"We're pleased to offer our commercial customers a premium IPS display, which provides the image caliber necessary for photo editing, digital video creation and media-rich presentation development," said Chris White, senior director of product marketing, Acer America. "Not only does it produce superior picture quality, but its low power consumption provides a low total cost of ownership."

EPEAT Gold registered, the highest caliber of EPEAT certification available, the display meets all of EPEAT's environmental measures and at least 75 percent of EPEAT's optional criteria. The display is constructed of mercury-free materials and uses mostly recyclable packaging materials, reducing its environmental impact. It's also LED-backlit, which reduces energy costs by consuming up to 68 percent less power than standard CCFL-backlit displays. TCO certified, the B243PWL adheres to strict environmental, performance and ergonomic design standards. Displays bearing the TCO label deliver excellent picture quality, consume less energy and use minimal hazardous substances.

The high 1920 x 1200 WUXGA resolution and 60 Hz refresh rate make the B243PWL perfect for advanced 1080p Full HD widescreen multimedia and productivity applications. With an impressive 100,000,000:1 contrast ratio and a brightness of 300 nits, it combines the brightest whites and the deepest blacks with a significant improvement of gradation and detail, especially in dim or bright scenes. Outfitted with the Acer eColor Management tool, users can optimize image performance under different viewing scenarios at the touch of a button.

The ergonomic design optimizes the viewing position for maximum comfort even during prolonged use. The panel can be conveniently rotated for viewing of images in either portrait or landscape mode. Highly flexible, it can also be swiveled 35 degrees to the left and right and tilted from 15 inches up or 5 inches down, while the height is adjustable from 4 inches up or down. It also includes two built-in speakers and a USB hub.

Like all Acer monitors, the Acer B243PWL Kbmdrz features a standard three-year warranty. The display is available now via Acer's authorized resellers in the U.S. with prices beginning at $329.

For $330 I'd rather import one of those 1440P monitors from Korea.

Yeah as if you'd pay for quality.

That said, the price gap between 1920x1080 and 1920x1200 is pretty damn annoying.

I think the Dell U2412M at 8ms is still pushing it too high for my needs. 5ms or below is good.

Yet the dell and the acer use the exact same panel, honestly the difference between 8ms and 5 is nothing.

Let's hope the TFT industry is in the dying throes of 1080/1200 and this is the LAST we will see of this outdated resolution.
