Avoid any "THIN" laptop that claims to be gaming, it will throttle.

+1 Asus TUF A15 that thing has insane battery life. almost 11hr and thats ultrabook segment.
2hrs + battery i think they did a loop benchmark.

But slightly pricey at $1200 but i think its worth it for battery life

Gaming on midrange laptops is total and utter shite. YMMV but that requires a healthy dose of cognitive dissonance. Yes I said it.

Been through multiple laptops with dedicated GPU and they die fast, get hot, and are generally not comfortable to use. Noisy as hell. Gaming capability near worthless unless you are plugged in. But that is not all! You also get power throttling on some (most notably Intel) laptops due to aggressive turbo combined with boosting GPUs. The power brick can't cope.

There are rare exceptions to all of this, but its like dodging bullets while avoiding an oncoming train. All exceptions include being a fat laptop and price points >1000 for so-so hardware. >1500 for any half decent gaming. Note that an x50(ti) is not going to make you happy, unless 720p is a thing. x60 and the suggestions you offered are going to sit around desktop GTX 1070 performance, at best. Which is yesterday's news too, really. If you want to play older games, they will do just fine. Throw recent heavy stuff at it, and it will already struggle at 1080p. This won't get better.

IMO just let it go, this idea of mobile gaming and get a decent, portable, silent yet performant 'normal' laptop with a decent CPU, at least 4c8t, pref 6c12t. Plug an external GPU if you really have to for any fixed gaming location. Or lacking that, get a desktop.

Aren't cheap good laptops atm meant to be mostly amd? Cheap CPU's due to low manufacturer popularity that do better than the expensive intel ones? Kinda the reverse of what happens with desktop where at least for just fps it's all intel regardless of cost. I suppose if you want a high end gpu pairing tho there arent (??) any options with 2070/2080's out there

GF65 with a 2060 for $900 is a steal, don't let anyone tell your otherwise, I'd look at notebookcheck reviews to see how bad the throttling is and if you can stomach thats one of your best options atm

i wouldnt have both of them there both out of my price range im in the 2h range, but if i had to i go for one id go for the 2nd 120hz but your going to need another stick of ram and a dose of throttle stop.

It was $1000 at Amazon when I posted two days ago.

Figured I should link it, although its configured with a lower gpu. I think the price difference is in the gpu.
