Advice in upgrading GTX 660 Ti to GTX 780 Ti

Hi everyone

I need assistance with some doubts, i'm about to buy a new GTX 780 Ti to replace my GTX 660 Ti, should i keep my GTX 660 Ti to use it for Physx only ? i have a coolermaster silentpro 720w psu do you think i need to buy a new one too ? also do you consider i have to replace my core i5 3570 for a 4770k ? do you think the new 780 ti will have a bottleneck with my actual CPU ?

one 780ti wouldnt bottleneck 3570.

if you change your CPU to 4770k, you would need a new motherboard as well. 3570 is a LGA1155 socket whereas 4770K is LGA1150.

your PSU should be sufficient.

questions, are you overclocking? I know you dont overclock CPU cause your CPU is not unlocked.

why do you want 780ti? is your current GPU not enough anymore? what is your resolution? i think getting another 660ti is cheaper than getting 780ti.

no i dont plan on overclocking, i´m currently on 1920x1080 but i was planning on getting on 1440p with a new monitor and raise my fps levels, do you think the best option is gtx 660 ti sli ?

if going to 1440 then better 780ti is better. 660ti SLI should be ok as well but as a lot of people here will say, single GPU is better. But it all comes with your budget as well.

It seems that, from what I've read and seen online, it's a waste to use the 660ti as a physx card since you're sporting a 780ti. The 780ti will be a great card for 1440 res.

And I wouldn't swap cpu/board unless you just want to, as your current setup should work just fine for single gpu gaming. However, upgrading/changing is fun....

@mole commando,if you still want upgrade cpu, why not get 3770k or 3570k instead so you dont have toreplace mobo. what is your current motherboard by the way? what are your system specs.? mobo, storage, case,psu etc etc

@Mole_Commando: I don't feel you need to upgrade your cpu for the 780Ti. Since you won't be overclocking (which would help solve any bottlenecking IF it occurs), if you really feel you need more cpu power, just get a 3770, although in my view the gain would be only minor. Bottom line, try it out with current cpu, and if not satisfied then make cpu upgrade decision.

The i5 is plenty. i7 gives improvements in productivity tasks not gaming. If you don't have an SSD, spend the money there.

CPU - Don't change.
GPU Options:
* SLI 660Ti
* Sell 660Ti buy 780 or 780Ti
Monitor Options:
* Sell 1080p buy 1440p
*Tri Monitor 5080x1080p

I'd recommend you to get a new 780 Ti because it has newer architecture and stuff like that.
