Only looking to get a smallish 32"-40" TV for our sitting room which will be primarily used for TV/Films but also occasional gaming.

I'm really out of the loop and a bit confused as most seem to state "50hz refresh". How does that affect fluidity of PC games with vsync on? My PC will be hooked up via HDMI and although it's only going to be occasional I still want a good experience.

As I understand it 720p will more than suffice for this size TV in regards picture quality, is that correct?

And finally any reccommendations for such a TV, I'm in the UK so UK vendors/models would be much appreciated. Thanks guys :)

It's really personal preference. For a small screen from 19" to 32" 720p is fine. But for 40"+ you really want a 1080p screen. IMO Blu-ray films look much sharper at 1080p.

Also be worth noting that your 5770 might struggle playing upcoming games at 1080p but I guess you can always drop the resolution to 720p if needed.

I can't really recommend a model or brand of TV as it's not really an area that I research.

BTW there is a AV category now.

Thanks for the heads up on the AV category (I'll keep it here unless a mod wants to move it)

I'll definitely be getting just a 720p tv and more than likely only 32" as we have a pretty small sitting room so the HD 5770 will be fine (Copes with 1680x1050 no worries on my monitor)
