Hey guys,
I've recently been able to buy myself a brand new PC and I just wanted your advice on this config I just made : https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/Lxdp6X

Any compatibility problems or better gear to put into for the same price ?

Your advice is really appreciated because I'm about to checkout!!!

Btw, I can't go above this price.

Thanks!

PS: I going Intel for this build since I had trouble with AMD in the past and this will be my first Intel build.

PS2: For those who don't know how it work lets just say 2300CAD is the limit, TAX will put it at 2500 at this price.

Ho thanks but I forgot about the fact that I will go Intel for this build, first time trying intel didn't really like AMD anymore...even if this new Ryzen seems tempting...I don't know.

Just spending money on a K series and pairing it with a B250 MoBo seems wasted to me. Go for a 7700 or find a Z270 for the K. Can save a little money or spend a little more but balance it.

I dont' know what that mean...can't people have normal conversation in my thread for some reasons ?

I'm able to read walls of text, like I did past few weeks, in order to make a choice and stuff, but at this point I was aiming for a more "personal" Q&A. Like I said it is more or less a "last minute check", I was hoping for eventual answers like "these 16gb of RAM are better than those for X reason" or stuff like that, I don't know, not a link to another thread with someone buying something quite different than me. Maybe I should add "PS3: I don't know a lot about computer build, don't throw me around forums please" ?

Thanks for the answer, well I'm a bit of a noob in building computer so I tried my best with this config, why would it be a waste exactly ?

Well the 7700K has an unlocked multiplier for easy overclocking. The B250 is not a board for overclocking. And I mean if you have no intentions of overclocking then save some money and just get a 7700.

Indeed I have no intention to overclock it since I don't know how that work and I don't think I'd like to do it anyway, thanks !

Any suggestion about something else, my two main worries are
PSU: lots of them and not quite sure what make one better than the other
RAM: same as PSU, I understand it a bit more, there is all those C16-C15 etc but in the end it is a mess to understand, I picked those because I've red a lot of good about them on the internet and a friend of mine use it too.

not a link to another thread
I did not link to another thread! I linked to a specific post with the intention of informing you that Intel is about to come out with their next generation of CPU's and that you might get more cores and threads for the same amount of money.

I'm out.

Well for me it's just someone throwing a CTRL+C/V in a superior manner, not saying "hi" or anything, reading people on the internet can be hard sometimes but anyway, cya I guess.

Yeah but like I said, not interested into giving AMD another try, two times was enough for me, will see how it goes for them in the future but for me all I've seen about it is still "meh" *reajust my chair before clicking Post, is those quote stuff at the end of a phrase still a thing in 2k17? ohwell*

Hey ikeke, like I said Im not against AMD or anything and Ryzen was something I was really thinking about but in the end I think I wanna try my first Intel build right now.
Ryzen might have a brighter future but in 3+ years I will be able to upgrade my CPU and eventually swap back to AMD, all in all its just personal taste on this one and even tho Ryzen are great those i7 are still pretty damn good.
I will see how Intel work for me and eventually regret it or not haha will see !

For the upgrade to a 1080ti, well I feel like it would be overkill for my build since I will not play in 4k or VR, and to be honest I thought a 1070 was enough but I really want that beautiful 1080 anyway...but yeah 1080ti I don't know about that, might be a lot of money for not so much in the end.

Thanks for the video and input !

I go with bang-for-whatevercurrencyused ratio. Ryzen 1600 with GTX1080 is just better on that now. Pocket the difference or take your wife/gf out, its a win-win anyway.

Gtx1080ti was just to show what saving on swapping i7 for Ryzen buys you ;)

Ho ok I see, indeed I would save around 100$ with that but hey if I pay 2500$ for a computer sure enough I have what I need to take my gf out haha, anyway you are right but I wanna go Intel and i7 it is !

I have a question tho, what is the difference between my SSD and this one ? basically the same but one is "portable" and the other one is directly put into the mobo or something ? didn't notice that when I was looking for an SSD.

Basically just a formfactor difference, unless you go for full nvme drive.

I've take 5 minutes to watch around the internet and apparently there is a little bit of improvement M2 vs 2.5 but most people assume that it is barely worth the price difference in most cases and better and cheaper m2 are on the way with real difference between them and 2.5 version, good to know.
