im looking to spend ~100 bucks for a PS, I have 2 frys Locations within 10 miles of where I live, I also have a Microcenter within the same radius. Frys does price match but my microcenter doesnt. Itll be powering my current build, but not the EVGA 580 but a Gigabyte SOC 580, i also plan on upgrading my cpu and mobo in the near future and possibly just water cooling the cpu. No plans for SLI'ing, and im going to be picking up 2 ssds. Any recommendations?

Corsair HX 750 should do the trick... not sure on price but it's a good psu

Check this F/S thread first:
http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2590360&postcount=1

Great deals here (bought 2 and will likely buy another) see what's there or PM the Op and ask if he has any others available

There are 2 revisions of that PSU (both are good units and have 7 year warranties)- The original for that price is a good deal and the new revision for that price is an awesome deal! :)

*EDIT- Make sure it's the HX and not the TX or CX you are looking at *

whats the difference between them? the frys thats closest has the gs series for about the same price, and a tx750m for $120...im gonna go take a look at the other frys tomorrow, but just wondering if it really is that big of a difference.

Also i was looking at the Antec gamers one, the red and black one, 750w for about 97 bucks. any good?

A TX750M is also decent unit. CX are budget units, not sure on GS models

If the Antec is an HCG (High Current Gamer) it may have Seasonic internals and are rated very well. I have an HCG-620 (Seasonic internals) that I bought in the thread I referenced and it's been running great. Check for a review on the model(s) you're looking at to get a better idea of their quality.

The GS models are between the CX and TX series in quality. Honestly, even the CX series are good quality units, the CX750 is probably one of the best bangs for the buck right now.

Norton, yeah it was an Antec HCG 750watts for like 97 bucks. that HX unit was at 99bucks and that tx750m unit looked modular at a price of 119.99. i dont mind spending the extra 25 if the TX unit is better than both the Antec or HX unit. Either way, i can pick it up tomorrow. What do you guys suggest/recommend?

antec HCG 750w - 98buck
Cosair HX 750 - 99bucks
Corsair TX750M- 120bucks

these 3 are the ones on my radar as of this moment, and i can pick one up tomorrow as soon as i wake up
by the way, i do game. ive logged over 300hrs in BF3, over 2000hrs in CSS, and many hours on other games such as 1.6 and BC2

I can personally vouch for the Corsair HX PSUs. I've had a 650 for 2 years now. Works great.

^See, after seeing post like that, I know Corsair makes some quality products, but as Norton said those antec psus may have some seasonic internals, and from what ive read Seasonic is topnotch in the psu industry.

nice seeing another member in my area :)

Seasonic, Corsair, Enermax, Antec are all good. However all but Seasonic will have a budget lower quality line

Companys that have been pretty top end for several years

Enermax
Antec
Seasonic
PC Power and Cooling
and now Corsair.

Honestly You cant go wrong with any of the ones you selected.

a Quality PSU delivers solid Current and Voltage, Has Active PFC, and will survive brown/blackouts. In event storms occur they normally are able to protect a system by even giving up the ghost before any other parts are affected. They can also handle power generation/conversion than what is specified on the label.

Used up my thanks for the day. But yeah Seasonic has always been the "Benchmark" of PSU's for me.

I have an "old" Seaonic M12 600wThat I was using in this current rig, OC'd, Watercooling and all. Was rock solid. But I chickened out and threw my 1200W "behemoth" back in. It was running a short on connections(SATA) because of it's age as well. If and when I need to replace the TT it will most certainly be replaced by a Seasonic.

That Corsair HX 750 for $99 would be my pick (great price/great psu/7 yr warranty)

I checked a bit on the Antec HCG's and they have Seasonic internals up to 620w but the bigger ones likely have something else inside...

Personal mention, Antec's HCG lineup I heard is REALLY good. Really can't beat the Corsair HX750 though as previously mentioned.

im looking to spend ~100 bucks for a PS, I have 2 frys Locations within 10 miles of where I live, I also have a Microcenter within the same radius.

Corsair 750W of any series should be enough..
Go for TX 750W costs $106 on amazon
CX 750W costs $86 on amazon

But HX gives 7 years warranty... but costs $152 on amazon

1.) I'll never buy an Antec again. I'm not usually one to write a company off, but after having 5 of their power supplies fail, 1 taking an entire system with it, and their absolute shit customer support with RMAing them(basically making it impossible to RMA the units), I'll never buy an Antec PSU again.

2.) Get the HX750. It is a better unit than the TX750M. The TX750M is modular, but so is the HX750, but the HX750 is more modular. What that means is that the TX750M has more of the connectors hard wired into the unit, basically only the SATA and Molex connectors are modular on the TX750M, while everything but the 24-pin and 8-pin CPU are modular on the HX750. Also the HX750 is 80+ Gold while the TX750M is only Bronze.

Also, for anyone that is interested, both the HX750 and TX750M are CWT units, Corsair only use Seasonic in their AX units AFAIK, the Antec HCG-750 unit is made by Delta.
