Hmm, both the 750 and 750 Ti which I recommended do have more CUDA cores compared do a GTX 460 (512, 640 vs. 336 respectively). The 750 Ti even comes with 2 GB of memory. But then I'm affraid you'll go over budget.

If you're buying a card for 60$, you should go for a used one, not a new one. The GT 710 is in most systems used as an expansion card, offering more outputs etc., but the performance just isn't there. Also, since you need CUDA cores, the GT 710 only offers 192 which is just... Nothing.

EDIT: Please, do not buy that GPU because you'll regret it. I mean, it's your money and all and I'm not yelling orders, just advice: don't do it.

It is not a necessity as i can set my cpu to render thigs.CUDA only accelerates them. I am only after compatiability as My programs dont work with my current gpu at all.

For your needs, cheap and with CUDA is all you want. Otherwise you're just looking at Quadro cards that start at twice your budget. The 710 should be sufficient.

But, if he's doing rendering with those applications, doesn't that mean → more CUDA cores = bigger difference when using CUDA acceleration?

EDIT: Good find with the Quadro tho.

the 460 might be up to twice as fast as the quadro! how do we know these would be 'fine', cuda has different versions, different versions support different gpus, did anyone confirm what the software wants!? do we have any idea how big of a boost over cpu this would be?

also, there is rarely a BEST anything, a few subjects get very little activity here that will have a large userbase on another forum, just have a collection of great sites rather than a single

Anything that has no power connector like a GTX950. That's pushing it real close to the limit

You should be able to upgrade, but that 710 is worth as much as rotten beans. It will not offer any better performance than integrated HD 530. You might search for Kuroutoshikou gtx 950 low profile, but good luck finding one.
