I think I'm going with a G500, my first real gaming mouse. I did buy a G5, died within 3 months, no receipt. I have small hands, like to palm, I'm very broke, so the $89can tag (a good $100can delivered) is a pile of money to me. Is the G9x worth the extra $30 (plus extra tax making it $140can)? It looks dam big. I also need a keyboard. Both are falling apart on me as I use them 8-10hrs a day. Looking at the G15 2nd gen kb as well, but probably will have to wait. Wanted wireless, but mamba mouse is horrid expensive. X8 Sidewinder mouse wireless looks much lower performance than the G500. Arrg. So little money, so much to buy!

If you're a palmer you're going to like the G500 more. My opinion is that the most significant deciding factor when purchasing a mouse is grip comfort. Nobody really uses 835564695 DPI or notices a difference between sensors, of course that's given that the DPI, mousing surface, and polling rate are all the same.

If you want wireless then consider the new Logitech G700, it's a wireless palm-grip mouse that's about $20-$30 less than the Mamba.

If you can, go to the store and feel the mice. Read up on the sensors in each mouse so you know what is good. I personally own multiple Razors and Logitechs, and prefer the Logitechs for comfort, and Razors for overall ability to game. I also feel that if one is accustomed to high DPI, IE: 5600DPI, you think about moving right and the mouse moves all the way across the screen, that getting a quality sensor is a must.

Like I mentioned, I had the G5 for almost 3 months, loved it, dam thing just died on me! The G500 I believe is the revamp of the G5, so I should like it, I hope! 5600dpi though, hmmmmm....

Yep, it's 5600 dpi, and 1000hz polling rate laser.
I'm also throwing in for my bday, a 16gb patriot quad channel rage flash drive! on sale for $39can

pretty sure you just should call logitech support first about your mouse, as long as you have the sin they could care less about the receipt, see if you can get the mouse for free or a deal cuz it is under warranty still. dont waste money:toast:

what's a "palmer?"

The most commonly used method to hold a computer mouse is what is known as the “palm grip.” This method involves the user placing his entire hand onto the top of the mouse, resting his palm and the pit of his hand on the rear of the mouse’s shell. The mouse is held and controlled by the user pinching his hand together to hold the mouse between his thumb, the heel of his palm and his ring or pinkie fingers. The index and middle fingers are usually placed fully on the left and right mouse buttons respectively. A slight variation of the palm grip style is where the pinkie finger is used as the right side stabilizer to hold the mouse, with the index, middle and ring fingers placed on the left button, scroll wheel and right button respectively.

The palm grip is defined by the fact that the entire surface of the user’s fingers and palm make contact with the surface of the mouse and the contact points on the mouse are large and undefined.

http://www2.razerzone.com/MouseGuide/html/palmgrip.php has all the different palm grips and stuff

Yeah, I have small techie hands, and I completely grasp the surface of the mouse. I like to feel the buttons right there at all times, but not have pressure on them.

I have used a G5 for years, but the gliding pads eventually wore out. I replaced it with a G500. You won't be disappointed, the G500 feels like the G5 in every way, except with more sensitivity and a couple of more buttons.

Wheee! I like the hyperscroll on this thing. Disappointing it can't be programmed under win7, but you can program it under xp64 and then use it under win7. I think I need a gaming mouse pad for it now though...

The DeathAdder is like the #1 palming mouse, it's either the DA or the G5.
