Is the new Corsair iCUE H150i ELite LCD just an old AIO with new brackets, or is it a new design?

from what i saw it's the same coolit pump/block as before just with extremely flimsy and cheap fans that are hotglued for ~$300

Most companies will offer new hardware. As for the latest corsair, I have it, and 1700 is not listed, but the have a $5 kit to fix that.

My Corsair H110i GT has worked wonders on my 5960X @ 4.6Ghz for 6 years and still going strong. Cooling wise its good even 100% load stresstest.

Yes, and high end air would have achieved the same result with 0% chance of catastrophic failure.
Just because you are lucky doesn't mean AIO's aren't objectively bad.

Companies like Corsair are already coming out with Alder Lake supported AIO's out of the box rather than an upgrade kit. Id avoid the upgrade kits as the cold plate wont cover enough of the IHS to properly cool the CPU.

Ive been using AIO's since the Sandy Bridge days and I have not had an issue. Id rather have an AIO over air cooling and I dont want the maintenance of a custom loop.

@Corsair George can you verify if the iCue H100i/H150i/H170i Elite LCD AIO series has a bigger cold plate to accommodate the new LGA1700 socket? Or is it just the bracket?

Any cooler that lists compatibility for 2066 chips should be fine.

It would be neat to know if you could mount a AIO on the top of the contact base of a Noctua NH-D15S to combine the two and what temperatures would be like. It looks like it could actually be possible with how flat the top of the base of Noctua is and overall size.

It would probably be a tight fit and you'd want one of the rounded AIO pumps I'd think, but I'm fairly certain it would fit you'd have to kind of figure out the DIY mounting which is simple enough zip ties are effective they don't win on style, but neither does liquid nitrogen so fair is fair, but at least this would provide sustained performance if effective at cooling.
