Question:

I have the 1st Gen NZXT phantom full tower case.

I'm running a NZXT kraken x61 to cool my cpu.

I'm thinking about maximizing my OC potential on my 2x MSI gaming gtx 980 ti in sli whilst avoiding any form of complicated custom loops ...

I've run through the Web and thought about getting the NZXT g10 with an aio cooler. Problem: I have 2 cards to cool. Where do I put the second 120mm radiator? Exhaust or intake?

What about stacking them?
As in one radiator inside (back of case) and one outside the case across it

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
Not sure I would try to cool 250W+ heat loads with a single, thin 120mm rad... and sandwhiching them is a terrible idea as you are passing the heat from to the other...

For this, custom loop hoss...

Those coolers on the MSI cards are pretty good and not very loud. An AIO solution might just end up being a "sidegrade" in this instance.

I threw a Cooler Master Seidon 120V rev 2.0 which is the cheapest AIO I could find onto my R9 290X. It now runs sub 65C core at 1.35V 1190/1550. Mind you I mounted it with zipties so this si certainly not best case performance.

The sandwiching of rads on the other hand is a terrible idea because the air coming of AIO cooler rads is probably 10C hotter than when it was pushed in.

if you have a bottom fan slot you could put it there but i looked that case up and you don't have a bottom fan slot. i was going to do the same with my 970s and had the same issue were i put the other 120mm rad lol. i got a $110 water kit and sold both 970s got a single 980ti and cooled it with my cpu i did get nice nickel blocks tho and man sure it cost me about $360 but soo worth it. you could do a loop just for both cards and probably work better than them AIO. my card dont go past 42c gaming or benching.

Urgent question:

On the MSI GAMING z97 mobo
Where should I put my xonar dx sound card?

Considering I'll have 2x gtx 980 ti in the 2 top pcie slots?

which motherboard you have here are more that one in gaming series.
But probably the first slot is only one accessible

Gaming 5 sorry.

Also whilst installing my gpus I was manipulating one of my psu pcie power cords.

I have re antec tpu 1200w psu with OC capacitors which provide a power reserve when needed. As I was positioning the pcie power cord (which has one of those big antec capacitors) I accidentally got it "loosed". (the capacitor)

Is it going to be a problem?

That PSU only has 4pcie cables right? I guess you will have to open the plastic case to see if the capacitor is really damaged

EDIT: found this, read last paragraph, those capacitors are for ripple suspension http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story3&reid=177

so I received my 2x gtx 980ti msi gaming cards. And at stock defaults (no OC) whilst doing the valley benchmark my top card reaches 75c after 15 mins. Should I worry?
I got tons of good air circulation in the case and cable management all neatly done. I'm thinking I could go for some gpu modding for water cooling or something of the like. Any other ways of cooling better them cards?

first card is sucking hot air from bottom card. 75C is well within limit, stock card and titan both do 84.
If you want to lower the temps you can do 3 things: modify fan profile in afterburner, add extra fan to the cards or you can water-cool them.
Custom loop would be most effective but expansive.
