good evening,
thats an odd topic i am about to open..

the thing is..

its like 5th time since i hear this strange behaviour. so it cannot be a coincidence.
my pc is most of the time idling on.
every time since i go to the room where my laptop is located, switch lights on and get in a room i hear "usb disconnect" sound from windows. i dont manage to touch mouse or anything. just coming from nowhere as soon as i come in a room. it doesnt happen during session or anytime when i am nearby doing anything else.

i have tried scanning for malwares and there is none found. i dont recall any usb related issues whatsoever EVER. everything works just about fine.

as a paranoid person, i have my microphone detached and cam covered.

any thoughts are really welcome here

It's just a bad USB driver or connection. Disconnect all USB devices and printers and see if it continues. I use to be paranoid so I know how hard this is to deal with. What helped me was realizing that anyone watching me has to be bored out of there mind.

Are you on an old "switched" light circuit (like a lighting circuit outlet directly connected to a switch)?

if you have a device that is powered by an outlet which is connected to the Swicth, it could turn the outlet off when you switch the light in the on position, and therefore causing the USB disconnect sound.

Unless you're using Damon tools ,you can get rid of that process ,but nothing seems fishy. you could always check your event viewer because it'll show if anything else is logging on ,like any other users. your other option is to disable the wireless adapter when you're not using the device ,because then no one is going to access it unless they get in the room physically doing so.

Also download a free version of malwarebites ,and run a full scan (including root kit), that would likely detect the majority of suspicious items.

Is there a possibility that you have a motion detection function built into your WebCam? My logitech c920 does ,and it starts capturing if it detects motion (if I enable it ).if you feel like something is occurring every time movement enters the room it's likely motion detection, or a loose connection and your footsteps are shaking that connection and causing it to disconnect and reconnect

FTR, this is not an uncommon problem. You should certainly scan your computer for malware but I doubt that is it. And if you have a wireless network change your passphrase for peace of mind.

On a PC, you can often clear these issues by doing a "cold" reboot. By "cold", I mean you shutdown the computer, and flip the master power switch on the back of the power supply (or unplug from the wall). This removes the +5Vsb standby voltage that remains present on USB ports when the PC is asleep. A regular shutdown (without flipping switch or unplugging from wall) really just puts the computer into a standby state - it does not remove that +5V.

On a notebook you have to unplug the charger (and in some cases, remove the battery too).

I had a friend who's computer would wake up every time he walked into the room - but only when he walked into the room. He was 6'4" and weighed 230 or more. His wife and kids were much smaller. I finally figured out the problem was his heavy footfalls were causing his desk to vibrate just enough to wiggle the mouse, waking the computer. Disabling "Wake on Mouse" in the BIOS setup menu fixed the problem. We had a similar problem at work where computers would never go to sleep because people where always walking around. So we just flipped the mice on their backs when we stepped away from the computer.

Likely some type of radio frequency interference from somewhere. I have a lamp that uses a remote pushbutton switch to turn it off and on. Found that every time I switch the light on in the bathroom it will trigger the lamp switch and cause it to turn on--have to remember to unplug the lamp or will wake up in the middle of the night and the lamp is on--turned on/off the bathroom light and didn't notice the lamp coming on.

Also have read that faulty street lights and such can emit radio frequency interference to mess up electronic devices. Possibly even something a neighbor is doing emits interference. So many signals of every type crossing the airspace these days. As someone mentioned, anyone spying on me, prepare to be bored. Regardless, I tend to avoid online banking or very many credit card transactions--prefer face-to-face or telephone agents that I actually talk to.

Are you sure you didn't touch the mouse or keyboard first? I know USB will put some devises to sleep and will wake once the system sees activity. I would shut down in power options the feature that allows USB to sleep or suspend or what ever it is and see if it still happens.

It's probably Daemon tools badly handling a virtual disk drive. Can you even find that program without a load of malware with it anymore?

Some crappy chinese usb devices can actually disconnect when fluorescent lightbulbs are firing up, this firing up causes EM waves that interfere on USB communication (in combination with bad grounds). Try it for once to flip the light switch and try and see any correlation with your phenomenon.

That brings up a good point. Install any pirated softwares? Don't answer that just get rid of it and any programs running in the background you can't identify. Or activate your recovery partition. Might be a little to extreme but last resort

Why don't you look at the event log and find out what device is connecting and disconnecting? That should at least clear up what is happening, if not why.

The country of manufacture is really immaterial. Even the best made American, German or whatever device can cause problems if damaged or there is a manufacturing defect.

And I note if the product causes problems due to a manufacturing defect or poor design, the problem would likely appear on day one.

I hope natr0n is just kidding. Reinstalling Windows should always be the last resort option because (1) it often does not help, and (2) if it does help, you don't learn why in order to prevent recurrence, and (3) reinstalling can put you months or longer behind in security. Reinstalling Windows at this point is not good advice.

Or activate your recovery partition. Might be a little to extreme but last resort
Yes, also extreme and a last resort but...
its like 5th time since i hear this strange behaviour.
5th time in how much time? Since the computer was brand new, or 5th time today?

If this problem just recently started, and you have exhausted other efforts, then I agree with Jetster and a recovery might be a good idea. But I don't think you are there yet.

I thought that for a little while but i turn the mouse off and there is no camera or mic connected to this system but often i find the system starting up as i have just come in the house it's the wiered thing ever, i notice it as it turns the screen on. Only started to happen more recently.

But no camera or mic so, but can make you think some if it keeps happening,

You probably have the "wake on usb event" activated in the bios + a defective usb port.

Lots of things can wake a computer - including Windows Update, virus scans, other program updaters and more - all legitimate.
