Amazing(?) temps on my gpu

Some reason games have been slowing down the past few days and i thought it was just the games acting up but out of curiosity i checked the temps on my gpu (while gaming) and my 8600gs had hit 127C at stock :eek:

. I'm somewhat proud of that lol.
thankfully this gives me an excuse for a new gpu.

EDIT: forgot to mention that's WITHOUT any artifacting.

it's an oem only cheap 512mb version. it has crappy gddr2 instead of 3.

Oh yeah, I bet it is "hot" to touch.. Give it 3h and you probably can change it.. But, that's some crazy temps for still kicking gpu.

no as in the space between the shroud of the cooler and the motherboards PCB.

EDIT: blue= wanted dimension
red= pci-e slot
black= video card
green= motherboard

Wow you have to have the least demanding system for a 1250w PSU :confused:

I would grab a 5850 and a 4gb set of ram overclock the 5850 to 5870 speeds and enjoy :toast:

try adding another fan for now, if its possible.
my XFX 4650 gets kinda hot(not that much), around 80C(40C ambient) so i added another fan on top and it goes max at 60C.

any videocard longer than 8" reaches the sata port's on my mobo. so is there any way to be able to use a video card longer than 8" and still have access to both of my sata ports? i thought of using a right angled connector but then i can only use 1 of my sata ports. i also don't want to change my motherboard (as crappy as it is) or get a controller card.
if theres a right angled sata connector that angles the other way that would also solve my problem (probably).

I say.. Grab a external hdd block.. that will allow you to use the usb's and just hotswap hdd's till you decide to upgrade.. It's a pita to have the sata's like that. Old EVGA board did the same thing.. Luckily I only had 3 drives at the time.

I say google sata cables.. something like reverse sata cables.. I'm on my celly or I'd hunt it.

old version of nvidia cards have a problem of getting too hot, my cousin bro's 9800GT used to be like that hot, and burnt out in the end. XFX was kind enough to give a discount on the new purchase.

127 may mean it's just a reporting error

it's a significant number in computing, a signed byte has a range of -127 to +127

Run FurMark for 5 minutes and see how hot temps get. Also, is it a passive card? If it does have a fan, remove the heatsink, clean the thermal paste and reapply fresh, and finally clean off the fan with some air.
