AMD, building on its leadership in graphics and gaming, announced its 2014 mobile Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) product roadmap at the APU13 Developer Conference today. Raising the performance bar across fanless tablets, 2-in-1s and ultrathin notebooks, the APUs codenamed "Mullins" and "Beema" are projected to deliver more than 2x the performance-per-watt of the previous generation.

The latest AMD APUs also support Microsoft InstantGo for faster wake times and to ensure data such as email actively refresh in standby. Both new processor families are also the first to integrate an AMD-developed platform security processor based on the ARM Cortex-A5 featuring ARM TrustZone technology for enhanced data security. The new low-power APUs join the previously disclosed high-performance notebook APU, codenamed "Kaveri," in AMD's 2014 mobile lineup.

"AMD is establishing excellent momentum this year in the low-power, mobile computing market and with 'Mullins' and 'Beema' coming in 2014 we are not standing still," said Mark Papermaster, AMD's chief technology officer and senior vice president, during his closing keynote at APU13. "AMD aims to deliver a set of platforms in the first half of next year that will outperform the competition in graphics and total compute performance in fanless tablets, 2-in-1s and ultrathin notebooks."

Both new processor families offer two or four "Puma" CPU cores and AMD Radeon graphics on a 28 nm system-on-chip (SoC). The new processors are planned to launch in the first half of next year and will be demonstrated at CES 2014 as part of a full suite of AMD products.

- is that referring to AMD's previous generation of APUs or APUs in general?

Hard to say with pr blurb but I thought temash low power types x2 but, that's performance per watt and they have near half the power draw, x2 the performance and we're near the same outright performance.

Where's Jorge? He should be around here somewhere. I await his unquestionable insight on this murky matter.

aahhhh...nothing like a good press release in the morning

Amd 2014 mobile apu's to deliver leaps in performance and battery life....

Leap is defined as:

1. To spring or bound upward from or as if from the ground; jump: leaped over the wall; salmon leaping upriver.
a. To act impulsively: leaped at the opportunity to travel.
2. The act of leaping; a jump.
3. An abrupt or precipitous passage, shift, or transition: a leap from rags to riches.(they are doing this quite well)
4.An act whose consequences cannot be predicted.

...ok it all makes sense now..

AMD continues to lead in the ULV APU segment with Mullins/Beema as well as mainstream APUs with Kaveri. Kaveri is a monumental PC landscape changer with more performance, lower costs and less power consumption than any other APUs. It's all good for consumers The AMD APU revolution has just begun. It gets even better with Carrizo. Within 5 years 90+ percent of the PC industry will be using APUs instead of discrete CPU/GPUs.

Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahah, no doubt.

And he replied... was everything I was looking for in a Jorge reply. :p. Dude just needs to start his own blog instead of participating in forums. Has ANYONE seen this guy reply or just post to see himself do so?

We need a Jorge clubhouse, where we can document all the crazy stuff he says.
