While all of this may sound impressive, one thing to keep in mind is that AMD's performance has been extremely volatile over the years, and at one point, they were even on the brink of bankruptcy. One indication of such, when looking at stocks, is the 'beta'. Beta is an indication of how much a stock is sensitive to general market fluctuations. If you do a Google search of 'Which companies have the highest betas, you get the following result:

8 S&P 500 Stocks With The Highest Betas

1. Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
AMD, 3.09 beta.

2. United Rentals, Inc.
URI, 2.71 beta.

3. Freeport-McMoRan Inc
FCX, 2.51 beta.

4. Devon Energy Corp
DVN 0.08%, 2.38 beta.

5. Marathon Oil Corporation
MRO 0.17%, 2.31 beta.
SVB Financial Group

6. SIVB, 2.19 beta.

7. IPG Photonics Corporation
IPGP, 2.17 beta.

8. Navient Corp
NAVI, 2.14 beta.

They then go on to say, and I quote: 'Several of these high-beta stocks have performed extremely well in 2019, including a 112% gain from AMD. However, these large positive returns from high-beta stocks occur much more often during periods of strong overall market returns, and traders can expect many of these same high-beta stocks to be among the worst performers during the next market downturn.'

So yeah, if I were you guys, I'd get out of AMD while the goings good, and maybe start looking into Intel again.

You should start writing hit pieces for money, you're wasting your talent on something like TPU.

Considering where stock price was and where stock price is, it's simple maths. I think they should start raising it's base salary and bonuses because stock can't go much higher from here. Even if it quadruples, still it's nothing compared the 25x it did those last years. Raising salary and bonuses could be important, one more reason to not go to another, bigger company any time soon.

well deserved from my point of view!
Agreed Lisa Su has a done a great job as CEO of AMD which is no real surprised given her very qualified background history at AMD prior to becoming CEO of the company really well deserved.

For over thousands years, AMD has been under the shadow of Intel and Nvidia. But no-one talk about the CEO of Intel/Nvida record earning. Ok, it started to sound like a fairy tales. Anyway, can someone get her used toilet paper? I bet all the tech outlet will love to sniff that. Yea, I'm still waiting for that killer card from AMD for over 10+ year and they still lose to Intel on gaming. It's a facts. Don't matter if they lose by half a frame. Don't matter if you buy their product for peanut, losing is losing.

Different ways ways of looking at it, you think there would be 12 core cpu's for under $430 and 4 core cpu's for a little over $100 if Ryzen never happened ?. How much do you think a 8c,10c or even 12 core CPU would of cost me if Ryzen never happened. Never mind a motherboard chipset

So frigging what Ryzen is not what 20 or so FPS faster in games,we are not talking 30-50fps anyways.

So say thank you to AMD \ and don't forget Keller for bringing CPU's with the amount of cores that Intel still were saying was not possible. Funny now Amd released just that Intel has found it possible, shit who would of guessed.

Yes kinda sad how long it's been waiting for AMD to release another nVidia kicker card, but you know what giving nVidia and Intel is not going help that either. And if they do i supposed people want it cheaper too huh, huh nVidia and Intel are not going to do that for you right now.

Jensen Huang had been 6-year old child when AMD was established back in 1969.
nobody cares about your bickering.
and tbh Huang was the co-founder of nvidia and saw his companmy grow from zero to being the driving force in pc gaming and now ai/datacener.Lisa Su is a different story.

Too many people to quote. Stock are hype. It will bottom once people come into senses. I like competition, but when you let hype blinded you, you lose as a consumer. Buy the rumors, sell the hype not the other way around. CEO will dump the stock on you. I'm no stranger to stock and investing. We need to criticize these companies to keep them on their toes. Intel think they're king in everything and sit idle by and AMD releases tons of new microchip in a short period of time (still couldn't beat Intel in gaming and most of Adobe product... petty). I'd still use Intel because it benefit more for me.

AMD give a good right arm on the CPU department, but if they still can't catch up to Nvidia next gen... I see us paying way too much for way too little increase in performance from both company. Nvidia think they're strong and they too sat on that aging microchip architecture. I use Nvidia because it's perform better with streaming hardware and partner with more game company than AMD. They even have the RTX Voice which I started use often. AMD don't have anything to offer other than "we have a slightly cheaper offering".

The stocks man not the architectures.

AMD stock is anything but stagnant. Your comments are just flying off the top of your head. Talking about a company with 2100% growth since 2016 in terms of just capitalization as a CHIP company on the verge of bankruptcy. AMD is 63b MC compares to ~ 3b MC in 2015/2016. Unprecedented is what that is, and receiving buy ratings for last 2 years. Every launch has continued to pin Intel in a corner of low efficiency, high power consumption single core performance with nothing else to show (Intel still can’t include a stock coooling solution because of the inefficiency of their chips). Cautious optimism in stocks is always welcome, but completely false narratives is ridiculous.

I’m not understanding how these chips are still getting Editor’s Choice ratings from W1zz. Intel all but ignored and raped the pocket books of desktop high end consumers for years (and they are still getting a pass for this from people) because of lack of competition. Hooray for competition and kudos to Lisa.

Lisa has successfully steered AMD through a desktop/server chess match with a small R&D budget and going fabless. Intel will eventually start using outside fabs, maybe TSMC, to help play catch up.

Jesus find some proper vocabulary. They sell a thesaurus where you live ? And since you're mentioning HEDT isn't AMD's HEDT tr40x and threadripper way more costly than x99/x299 were actually ?
And I'm talking about last few months only.I thought the news is about her annual income.

She really turned around AMD's fortunes. How much of it was her doing we will never know but she is the boss and delivered it at the end of the day.

The first thing she did was hire JIm Keller and Raja. Thanks to her leadership we got Ryzen from Jim and Polaris and Navi from Raja. What Lisa has been absolutely great at is keeping AMD's new products close to the vest until they are ready to go. No one really talks about the success of Polaris in terms of what it has done to the mid range and budget and as much as some people refuse to see it AMD's CPUs are much more consumer friendly than Intel's offerings. Now under Lisa's direction we have so many choices as consumers that you can build anything from a 2 core to 16 core CPU using the exact same board. I am going to go out on a limb and say that BIg Navi will be a shock to the system as there has been very limited information on Big Navi (just like Ryzen). It is to the point where no one believes what anyone says about AMD unless it comes from Lisa Su. In fact I will say that AMD's software offerings and consistent driver updates show a commitment to the GPU space.

I assume that is your attempt to clarify your initial comments which held no grounds. However, your comments still hold no grounds. AMD experienced growth over the last 3 months ($46.75 versus $52.65), even through a pandemic which resulted in self inflected near total shut down of the USA economy (which is still being recovered from). With that said, the last 3 months would be a poor gauge of any publicly traded company's performance.

too many quotes because your post doesn't make sense. do you know the earning of intel and nvidia's ceos? you seem to offended for somoene who likes to criticize these companies. also the article and the survey it was based doesn't compare amd with intel and nvidia like you do, as they aren't targeting fanboys.
lisa was deservedly so the top paid ceo among the entire S&P 500 which contains 497 more companies. of course a lot of them overshadow the others, that doesn't mean that doesn't affect at all who's the higher paid ceo

jesus, who the hell deserves that much pay? CEO's are just plain overpaid. I'd say the same about athletes and any other positions that demand such ludicrous amounts of money. Us common folk can't even comprehend or fathom that kind of wealth.

It's not her fault it is the way her contract is structured. If you had a few million shares in AMD you would have seen the same rate of return from 2016.

I assume that is your attempt to clarify your initial comments which held no grounds. However, your comments still hold no grounds. And of top of that they are doing excellent sales in the budget space (which is even more important in today's conditions). The 3300x sells out really fast on any website here in Canada. I would not be surprised to see a 5300XT consumer GPU within weeks of the launch of the B550 boards too giving them carte blanche in the budget space.

I thought the Larry at Oracle guy was highest paid?

In 2014 Larry Ellison stepped down as CEO, handing the reins over to Mark Hurd and Catz, who became co-CEOs under Ellison, who stayed on as executive chairman and CTO.

It's not her fault it is the way her contract is structured. If you had a few million shares in AMD you would have seen the same rate of return from 2016.

Exactly. 1mil base/1.2 mil bonus and a lot of shares totaling another couple $mil at the time seems like peanuts relative to her peers in the industry. The whole point of giving that much stock was to incentivize an incoming CEO to turn around the company and make it the best it can be. AMD has become what they are today under her leadership and she (as well as all shareholders) capitalized on the opportunity big time. To me this is a rare example of a CEO actually earning their pay.

Benchmark Scores 3050 scores good 15-20% lower than average, despite ASUS's claims that it has uber cooling.
