To be fair, there was a rumor about 4-thread SMT being implemented in some future Zen design, but as always, everything is smoke and mirrors until they finally show up on the market.

That might be the planned roadmap, but that is not the near future. It really doesn't take a genius to figure out that more cores is where everyone is going. Intel, AMD, ARM, they're all going more cores. This really isn't news until it's actually announced by AMD themselves..

Well it does in reality sound nearer term than some realise.

I joked but a few people have said as much was coming with Genoa using zen5 I think?, for servers.
And it's clear who posted this thinks they will evolve upto 512 cores via mostly packaging(realistic for AMD and also Intel Now near term).
And then evolve architecture through smt3 then smt4, all stuff Mores law is dead has done videos on btw, old news.
