Looks socket FM2 to me. No wonder the first few batches of these chips will be available through pre-built machines only.

Very enticing! Firepro name has such a cool factor. For that reason I used to always buy the xeons instead of the regular intels. Hope these won't have Firepro pricin, though. Will this be similiar to an a8-3870k?

The A320 looks similarly spec'd to A10-5800K. I expect its price to be around $400.

Very Very Very .... not interested.

If you honestly need FirePro, I doubt APU's performance will be enough for you. Very niche product, unless AMD can prove me wrong.

It's more than enough for 2d cad work. Might be lacking for 3d tho especially considering the lack of dedicated memory.

Well, at least this is the first Workstation APU from AMD. Need to have a review to judge it.

These are not for pros. These would be great for high schools that have cad classes would be a vary nice and cheap way to go. When I was in high school these would have been great as are computers had hard time with rendering.

If AMD got some school contracts that can bring in lots of money.

^ Yup. And there's plenty of "pro" positions below the head animator at Pixar ;)

I mean, nVidia and AMD don't manufacture entry-level Quadros and FirePros because they love to waste silicon. They're made for clippers, proof editors, object modelers, etc.

quick question, why is firepro/quattro so much more expensive then their desktop cousins? Seems like the hardware is very close in most cases. Don't tell me they ad on $1000 or more for some 'designer' software.

They rewrite significant chunks of the driver, and they need the money for the dev. Small volumes means high premiums.

They should rather add a FireMV to an APU! At least there's a market for people who want 4 monitors without needing a lot of performance... (traders and such)

Why are 95% of the news or articles from TPU just copy/paste from the company's website?
Just asking, no bad vibs intended...

@ PV : They are press releases. You want press releases to be the same as the way the company issues them.

The professional cards are much more accurate in dimensioning than their desktop/gaming cousins.
As Fourstaff stated, it's a lot of driver modification and testing.

The 8th slide claims quad monitor support, so this APU is both :)

Actually, I'd like them stripped of filler and just the specs left ;)

If I remember correct some Radeons were modded in the past to be like Firepro, so I am sure that ticked off ATi

This seems more legit. I can see paying a premium for quality graphics and not "expensive development."
