After reading a few reviews I think this chip is as good as any core 2 quads, but at 140 watts, I'm happy to see this chip but we are less than a month away from the I7/I5's I think this chip will go down $40 when that happens. I'm not planning on this chip myself but it helps bring down the price of other chips that I do want So go AMD

It doesn't seem like anything special really, about the same OC'ing potential as the 955 from the reviews I have looked at so far.

    Or is it just me?

I don't trust reviewers anymore LOL

I rather see what it can do under my conditions

:twitch: Great I guess I will wait for it to go down in price as well. Plus get to see what some of you can do with it :toast: 140W is to high for my tastes any way will have to get better cooling.

props to the 955BE - dropping in price and more overclocking headroom - so that would be my choice, but still not enough to replace my 720BE

Lucky that with a simple BIOS update i could drop one of these into my Crosshair II i belive, shame i have not got the spair cash, already running an older 9950BE 140w and its temps are pretty solid at 35 idle/43load.

I think my money would go to the 955...a new IMC couldn't improve that much to justify a $50 price difference for only 200Mhz more and 15W TDP increase.

In this case 140W is around how much a PII 810 (mine with L3 unlock) will actually draw at 3.4Ghz. So nothing is special for the 965.

    Exactly my point.

I swear I heard there is going to be a 95W 945 coming out, heres the article: http://news.softpedia.com/news/AMD-Updates-Phenom-II-X4-945-Now-with-95W-TDP-117377.shtml. This is probably what I am gonna go for but this would be a good sign a 95W 955 could be coming out.

Well, there isn't much to say about the 95W 945 either, all the Deneb seems to have their stock voltage set on the high side.
From what it looks like, its to ensure the early Denebs will run stable.
My 810 comes from one of the later batches it seems and it draws much less than the TDP stated at stock.
This and the unlocking drama indicates that AMD should have a much higher yield by now.

Hate to burst your bubble :p http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103696

I made a post on it a few days ago. :toast:

Not only the wattage changed on the 945 95W, but the max temp was raised from 61C to 71C I do believe.

    kenkickr says thanks.

Either way, you should never allow your CPU to get any where near that 61C anyways.

I am more interested in its revision, is it still the same one or is it a new one?
    How does it perform?
