That price is sigh inducing indeed. The single fan reference model MSRP should be 299. 330-350 for custom aib. Much rather get a Series S if you're going to make me pay 400 for this level of performance.

If the price is correct then they can keep it. I'm waiting for intel and for the prices to normalize either way, then maybe i'll go for a 3060 12 GB, though i don't really want to spend more than 300€ on a vga alone.

So this is AMD's answer to Nvidia's RTX 3060 at almost an extra $100? That means the only MSRP ones you'll find at $399 will be from AMD's store and the few that trickle out to retailers of AMD's model. Any AIB will instantly be another $20 minimum and upwards of an extra $100-150.

I don't know why anyone would want to exceed a $450 price point (after taxes) for this model card if it's only going to trade blows with the RTX 3060. I'm still a bit irritated at the $400 range I put down for a 3060....but I will say it has been nice not having to hear my 980Ti fans rev up all the way randomly when using the computer. I would have much rather put an extra $100-150 into a 3060Ti or 3070 or even a 6800 - if I could have found ones that were at their MSRPs.

It's good to see AMD at the Nvidia's level, for the most part, this time around, but it's not good seeing them at a higher price point.

Yeah if I were Nvidia I would quickly come up with $250 GPU otherwise AMD will rake in all the folks that can't afford $400+ GPUs and opt for an Xbox or PS5 instead.

Potential NAVI22XL (6700 nonXT) should be 399MSRP... at this price a NAVI23XT (6600XT) with 8GB VRAM is DOA.

This should be a sub 329USD card. Smaller die size and less complex PCB compared to an RTX 3060.

Can Intel save us? Probably not. Intel is a company with a 30 years old mentality "I am the No 1, I am the biggest brand in the world, I do not sell cheap". Except if the competition is killing me and first generations of graphics cards have more bugs than a plain. And when they start making CPUs and GPUs that people would want to buy, they will start raising prices again. So we can expect a little love from Intel as long as they are having manufacturing problems and they want beta testers for their graphics cards.
Not sure about the profit margins, but it is clear that Nvidia definitely charges more. Considering the retail Ampere cards are produced on cheaper Samsung 8nm (basically a refined 10nm) node, versus TSMC's 7nm used by AMD's RDNA2, pretty sure they already bagged some cost savings there.

As to what you mentioned about Intel, I think you are spot on. But even AMD and Nvidia are just there to make. Perhaps AMD at this point is less aggressive out of the 3, but as they grow more and more successful, I feel they will also start charging more, just like they have done with the Zen 3 pricing.

Everyone is talking about the GPU price, however, Coreteks specifically said that he is guessing (@2m40s):

The truth is AMD is likely testing the waters by throwing $399 "leak" to the leakers. It's an old trick, trying to figure out what market could still bare. Our job is to say to AMD that their pricing is insane. Otherwise we might end of with 400 bucks Polaris class GPU. They are seriously considering it according to numerus very reliable sources.

If that MSRP is true, it's unfortunate.
At the same time, if you can actually buy the card for under $600, you're fortunate.

We know the current environment is sh*t.
Once/when prices stabilize, the MSRP for the 6600XT will be adjusted to $299 fairly quick. The question is, do you want to wait for half year or not?

Come on man, watch the video (or read the transcript). He says:
Now there is no word on pricing yet, but if I were to guess, I'd say the 6600 XT will have a MSRP of 399 dollars ...
Also, please provide source for "seriously considering". Every reliable leaker I follow, has no clue about the pricing and are just guessing ...

The problem with MSRP is that they're here to stay and only go up with each generation regardless of retail prices during the lifespan of a GPU. RX 480 was priced at $229, RX 5600XT $279 and now they're considering $399. That's nearly 80% MSRP price jump in just 6 years time. That's why we have to scream out and let 6600XT rot on shelves if they decide to go through with $399 pricing. Otherwise we'll be soon paying 500 bucks for xx60 class GPU or being forced to abandon PC gaming.

Overpriced by $100. This isn't going to sell.
The 6700XT is also $100 overpriced. Hopefully the prices for both 6600XT & 6700XT come down to what they are worth. Until then, I don't see these selling as popular as they could.

RedGamingTech also got the same number from his sources. It's either AMD testing the waters by throwing the price tag out in the wild or a leak from the inside. But it looks like they are considering it. I still remember AMD lowering the prices of the 5700(XT) on the day of release. Nothing is set in stone, but they sure wanna milk us as much as they possibly can. Lisa loves her and shareholder's wallets. She has a moto "We love gamers" which more and more translates into "we love obedient milking cows". They're becoming more and more Ngreedia like since RDNA1.

People simply need to STOP BUYING GPUs that are Overpriced. That way both AMD & Nvidia will finally get it. But if this 6600XT sells out, what does that tell AMD? It gives the wrong message. lol

128 bit wide bus is $199 max for me. 32Mb of cache, when 16 was enough plus a fake 7nm with only 46Mtr/mm2 density when nvidia ampere A100 is 65.6 on the same 7nm node ~77 on EUV.

From when sale prices depends only of performance and complexity and cost of production doesn't matter? It's normal few generations later to have cards with same or better performance which cost less money to manufacturing.

Yeah... This thing will probably be pretty fast at 1080p gaming but it's narrow bus and cache reduction will limit 1440p and especially 4K performance. 32 MB Infinity Cache can only do so much to elevate the bandwidth problem. I'd not be surprised to see 6600XT confidently beating 5700XT/3060 at 1080p, loosing at 1440p and being hammered at 4K. It's a brave new world when people try to defend alleged 400 bucks pricing on a 1080p card. I guess I'm getting too old for this shit and don't understand consumers mindsets anymore.

If the $399 price tag is true, AMD is losing the low/mid range markets, all Nvidia has to do is counter this GPU with a faster one at $250 to $299, then who will look silly again?

Expected price for current times, considering how the industry is still under capacity for various reasons.
Luckily, since both amd and nvidia are competitive with each other, we will see a reduction in MSRP when the various factors putting pressure in silicon production start to alleviate.
Comparison against the 3060, 3060ti, 5700xt, etc. launch price is useless. We all know that these cards are not being sold at MSRP.

Yes, maybe, but this is expected to be an 3060 competitor and that GPU launched at $330 months ago. Every card in 6000 series lineup has been launched at a lower price as their nVidia counterpart and I find it extremely hard to believe that this card would be more expensive. It simply doesn't make sense ...

Also, if I may add - it's a little to late to moan about high x60 MSRP in this thread
Remember the $300 1060 FE from 2016? https://www.techpowerup.com/review/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1060/
Or the $350 2060 FE? https://www.techpowerup.com/review/nvidia-geforce-rtx-2060-founders-edition/
Or maybe the $400 3060 Ti FE? https://www.techpowerup.com/review/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3060-ti-founders-edition/

See the pattern? A lot of people gladly opened their wallets for nVidia, which means that they were ok with the prices. When AMD finally releases the cards, the damage to MSRP is already done. You have to change nVidia buyers mindset to achieve anything, so that nVidia is forced to reduce the prices and then AMD simply follows. Expecting it other way around won't be possible until the market share is balanced ...

They will sell them for as much as they can for as long as they can.

AMD and Nvidia are in a position where they can't make enough GPU to fill the market. So they aren't afraid to be undercut and market flooded.

IT still seems that Nvidia is shipping way more Ampere than AMD RDNA2 (and the demand seems to be higher for Nvidia card) but everyone is able to sell their card. AMD seems to focus more on CPU and Consoles and that is their choice.

I would have prefer that AMD took the current situation to release a card like this at a unbeatable price and get as much market share as they want but I suspect that for them they don't see the PC market independly of the Console market. They probably isn't worry to only sell 10-20% of desktop card since they are in every console sold. Not sure if i agree with that but it's their choice.

So this year, no cheap GPU. See you next year maybe.

On Amazon Canada a couple days ago, I tried ordering for Zotac 3060 Ti with a dismal twin fan cooler for $900 cdn, still that is overpriced for a 3060 Ti when I saw a local shop having 1 in stock for 800 (on hold for someone else unfortunately). Fast forward a couple days, I was told my order was cancelled on Amazon. Really upset that these stores would tell you they have like 7 or 8 in stock, and fool you into buying one. This was from an actual computer store in BC, not some 3rd party store from overseas. Glad I ordered through Amazon, which makes getting your money back much easier.

I was able to get new 3060s at my local computer store for around $600-650 cdn, but skipped that opportunity thinking I might get 3060 Ti soon for a bit more. I wished I had gotten a Gigabyte 3060 for $650 with 3 fan cooler and RGBs.

6600 XT NEEDs a triple cooler design or RGBs, even twin cooler is not adequate, to compute with RTX 3060. If can't compete with 3060 on ray tracing performance, at least you can sell on looks and lower price. Price wise I'm hoping around $500-550 cdn for one when it hits Canadian markets.

It should be (percentage of inflation increase if applicable, maybe 2%) and 22% performance increase.

Performance increase should always be higher than price increase(if any).
