The AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT is expected to launch on August 11th while the RX 6600 appears set for a release in September/October. The pricing for these cards was predicted to be under 400 USD and according to a recent report from Neowin that would appear to be the case. The report claims that the Radeon RX 6600 XT will come with an MSRP of 349 USD and the Radeon RX 6600 at 299 USD. These prices have not been confirmed but if they are true it would position the RX 6600 XT above the RTX 3060 at 329 USD. The Radeon RX 6600 XT is expected to offer superior raster performance to the RTX 3060 but will come with less video memory and have worse raytracing. These prices are only suggestions and other sources put the retail price for the RX 6600 XT at 588 USD or higher in Europe.

Those prices are ridiculous. Why would anyone buy these... 6500 xt and 6500 - 250 and 200? It was nice knowing the budget/low end GPU's for decent price.

+$500 scalper tax.

yeah it is really disappointing to see AMD/Nvidia not come up with more innovative ways to get graphics cards into the hands of gamers. I know not everyone has Steam, but a huge chunk of PC gamers do. they could do a roll out of sales for example, 1 card per steam account with at least 250+ games on it. or something like that at first, then loosen it up as they go. I think it would work, again I know it wouldn't cover all gamers. but its a start.

See that is the thing for me, prices just keep going up and yet I dont think any of these cards is worth my time even IF they were cheaper then this.
If I want to upgrade I want to really upgrade but im not about to pay 900 euro for a medium grade card.
Honestly this is where PC gaming might eventually just die for me personally.

I'm without "gaming" pc for more than 1 year. Somehow I'm not worried at this time at all. If I want I can play dayz on iGPU. :D

Personally I think it is sad to see those people who are buying scalper or miner cards.

Given how much Newegg and Micro Center want for RX 6000 series GPU's, it seems there is more to worry about with the AIB's overcharging than scalpers.

I was really shocked to find only 6900 series of GPUs were priced reasonably on newegg, everything is a bloodbath even GTX 1660 is being sold for $400+.

You're forgetting about multiple steam accounts used on same PC in an internet cafe.

The ideal solution would be for AMD to use their REDEEM backend to distribute one time codes to secure an order at shop.amd. Run the tool, verify that you have an AMD board and cpu and allow user to enter queue based on the unique serial numbers (tie it to board+CPU without variations). Unfortunately AMD does not distribute to all countries, plenty of central/eastern European countries are not supported by their store.

If we can't have the ideal solution then simply have AMD expand its store to allow additional countries. The cards are there, dropped regularly on Thursday between 2PM and 8PM. I don't see why users from Poland, Lithuania, Czech Republic, etc can not purchase hardware there. Poland by itself is a massive market for AMD.

$1700 from Newegg is still a $700 markup from the $1000 MSRP, the fact that they are all still instock is hopefully a reassuring sign that the market is slowly returning to normalcy.

Distributing it among Steam users would basically TURN many of them into scalpers making money instead of AIBs. (most of steam players have crappy ancient hardware)

So, uh, I'd rather let AIBs make money on it.

Those prices are ridiculous. Why would anyone buy these...
Why should it be cheaper than what NV offers?

Eh, 3060 still goes for ~ 650-850 $ in my country so I have no hope for this either.

At this rate I will just use my 570 till it dies, aint paying such prices for a ~mid range card or any card for that matter.
Oh well I'm planning to play Lost Ark later the year and for a longer time probably and that runs just fine on my GPU so whatever.

Those prices are a ripoff. The RX 480 was $220, now granted AMD was behind at the time both driver wise and peerf/w and overall performance wise, but still to charge $349 for a mid range GPU is just silly. Much like the 6700xt, there seems to be 0 improvements this generation unless you are willing to shovel out for a 6800 or higher.
Yeeeeeah. I'm still waiting to upgrade my HD 4850 512MB GDDR3. It still runs most of the titles maxed out at or close at 60 frames per hour. But starting to feel it's time for upgrade. But not at these prices.
Most titles maxed out? Are you playing at 640x480?

* unless you play WoW RT, Fortnight, Dirt 5, Godfall, or simply with "'cripple my fps' gimmick off".
RT only counts if its a Nvidia* Sponsored* games with DLSS Vaseline edition 3.0 running at max speed.

Why even bother with all that BS when you could simply limit all purchases to 1 GPU per address per month? Far easier to implement and doesnt require spyware on your motherboard to function.

Here's the reality: AMD/Nvidia dont care if gamers get their bing bing wahoo. You'll either pay for one of their cards, or you'll pay for a console, which uses anvidia ARM chip or AMD silicon anyway. To AMD/Nvidia, they are selling GPUs at bumper crop levels, and have been able to sell every scrap without hesitation. This is fantastic for them. Retailers dont care either. Why would they care if a gamer wants a new GPU to bing bing wahoo when a miner will pay them 2.5X MSRP for the same card, and buy them in bulk?

Gamers have proven, time and time again, that they are willing to spread their wallet WIDE to play their vidya.

5700XT sold between 349-399€ and 5700 between 330 and 370€ soon after release. So what exactly is AMD offering here? Same performance, similar price 2 years later? That's not the AMD I used to know and buy products from. No value advantage over Nvidia unfortunately means opting for Nvidia for most of us who were buying AMD products because of better value offer.

The price is kinda weird. IMO, the 6600 XT should not be a cent above 300 USD, and the 6600 non-XT around 250 dollars at most.

I'm actually wondering, though, how they came up with this price scheme. No, I don't give a shit about theories of how they're all greedy bastards and the like. They're fucking for-profit companies, of course they want money. I mean that I'd love to see the numbers and have the wafer cost, the R&D cost, etc.

Gamers have proven, time and time again, that they are willing to spread their wallet WIDE to play their vidya.

There is many, at least in tech forums such as TPU, who proved that they are completely addicted and can't refrain from buying even if it cost them a month of salary.

Scalpers exist because there is "demand" for them, that shows how many "gamers" are addicted and ready to flush their money down the toilet, there is no excuse like "hobby" or "I do whatever I want with my money" when such people are affecting us and the market negatively by succumbing to their impulses.

Then scalpers would just invest into a temporary rental of various Post Office/UPS/FedEx Box addresses under various family names, buy stock, retrieve from boxes, then resale, including the cost of rental in the mark-up.

People forget that the x60 pricing at $300 already started in 2016 with GTX 1060 FE and everyone that bought that card doomed the sub $250 market. Instead of boycotting the $300 GTX 1060 FE, $350 RTX 2060, $400 RTX Super, $330 RTX 3060 and $400 RTX 3060 Ti, they gladly bought everything at the set prices and above!

As a consumer you have the power to bring the price down, by holding the line and only buying after the prices drop!

5700XT sold between 349-399€ and 5700 between 330 and 370€ soon after release. So what exactly is AMD offering here? Same performance, similar price 2 years later? Why would you complain about the pricing and then do this? Seriously? The only thing you are doing is contributing to further price increases for new generation of GPUs. Hold off and wait for the prices to drop.

The root of the problem is limited supply nothing else (miners just make it worse), AMD or Nvidia can't do anything about it? They can't just magically make more cards.
Your solution basically makes steam members the new scalpers.

they would need to produce like 50 million of those, or even more, to get the prices near MSRP for the whole entry raytracing market.
just take yourself the "funtime" and lookup the prices of a new RTX2060 in your reach. but dont get depressed, please
in the next few years we wont see any graphicscard near or below MSRP, because the price-distortion by miners buying everything they can
the overall market view on this hardware is not gaming anymore, it is mining plus a few lucky gamers getting near MSRP but the rest gets scalped by the whole industry

Looks like people did not bought enough Nvidia gpus, that is why budget gpus are so expensive. Always remember Jensen's word, If you want cheaper gpu, but more Nvidia.
